Outlook Express -- Shutdown error problem?

Help! Recently when I open Outlook express it opens fully, immediately minimizes and then opens fully again with the announcement that 'Outlook Express did not shutdown correctly.'

It has just recently begun doing this. Any suggestions as to how to correct this issue would be greatly appreciated.

I used to get a similar message with Internet Explorer. Found out it was because I always got a message at shutdown and selected "end program immediately" instead of waiting for it to finish.
