It may sound simple, or cheesy, or whatever, but there is always a silver lining. I was pregnant, homeless, and had my 3 year old daughter, but it could have been worse. I could have been in a third world country. If you don't like your surroundings, effect them, instead of letting then effect you. If you're in a place where you can feel the depression, be the light. If you can't find the silver lining, be the silver lining. Fight the temptation to give yourself up to your environment, instead, fight your environment. Don't let it suck you in. Once you begin to change your attitude toward the things around you, you will see a change in the way you feel about yourself. It's a struggle to get oast the excuses, but you can. You weren't meant to be this way. You don't have to feel this way. You can change that. You want to change that. Stand up where you are right now and look around. Look at your environment. Find one thing that you've been staring at for a long time that you just can't stand anymore, and get rid of it. Then do it again. And again.Kepp going until you've changed your room around enough to get a new feel for it. Go to the bathroom, and wash your face. Look at yourself in the mirror, and pull your hair back and and stand up straight and think to yourself, "I gotta do something to change this". Open your heart and pray. I always try to remember one thing. Trust in the lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understandings. In all your ways acklowledge him, and he will make you paths straight. Good Luck. I'm pulling for you from where I am. I'm sure others are too as they read your question.

Get out and be with people. Join some groups, do volunteer work, learn to enjoy yourself and talk to a doctor about possible depression.
