'A seizure is a sudden change in behavior characterized by changes in sensory perception (sense of feeling) or motor activity (movement) due to an abnormal firing of nerve cells in the brain" this is from answers.com. i am a little elaborating on this:

if you wanna know what the patient with seizure looks like you can imagine that a person suddenly loses his or her consciousness seems like he or she is not in this word. this is sensory seizure and has nothing to do with so-called convulsive seizure. in convulsive seizure you can see a person suddenly beginning movements of the whole body or part of the body with losing consciousness. these two are most common pictures of a person with seizure. no matter what the patient looks like, the mechanism is the same. a group of cells in the brain start firing.
why it happens? in some cases it is because of disturbing the equilibrium of the body. high blood sugar, low salt (sodium) or calcium or high salt or high calcium are among the causes of seizure. if seizure is recurrent and the doctors cannot find a removable cause for it , they name it epilepsy. if the seizure is an epilepsy then you will take medicine in most cases to control the seizure attacks. if the seizure is secondary to a known cause you should take out the cause to get rid of it.
i hope this helps

Seizures occur when there is abnormal electrical activity in your brain that throws off your nervous system. They can be caused by epilepsy (recurring seizures) or by other triggers such as over stimulation like flashing lights, videos, etc or head injuries. Many seizures have no understood cause.

a siezure is when "abnormal signals from the brain change the way the body functions" basically the brain keeps firing off signals... Some seizures can be terrifying to see (like when the people start shaking uncontrolably) and some seizures are'nt even detectable to us seeing them happpen (such as for some peopl who kinda just zone off and dont realize that stuff has happened, they just stop talking and doign whatever they were doing)

there are many different kinds of seizures, and just as many causes...some are even unknown as to why they occur..usually there is a misfire in nerve signals to the brain, brought on by head trauma, chemical inbalances, fever...the list goes on. Here's a website all about epilepsy.

i think something either gets clotted or gets in the way of normal progress which causes the "external symptoms" until one reaches normal state.

The body is 'seized' by the neural system's defects.
