My heart goes out to all soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines. Having served in the U.S. Navy during the Gulf War, I can relate to what you are about to experience... my brother is in the Infantry.

War is a dirty business... but there is something you should take into consideration before asking for forgiveness...

Asking for forgiveness first requires that a sin was committed or a law was violated. In this case, neither is happening because even though the Bible says Thou shalt not kill (the actual translation implies murder), the Bible also requires that we obey the laws of the land and those who are in a position of authority over us. So no sin is being committed. Self-preservation is the highest law of nature... and so killing in self-defense (and in this case the defense of your unit) does not violate the laws of nature.

Rest assure, Soldier, you don't have to worry about being forgiven. Hurry home.

I wish you didn't have to go at all. I would request the army give you access to counseling, if desired, before you go over there. It's too much to cope with. My opinion is that I wish we could protect people like you from having anticipatory anxiety about upcoming life threatening situations, actual life threatening encounters and guilt over how to handle them. If you are spiritual or religious, now would be a good time to seek guidance. Good Luck!

I will not be answering your question. I'm sorry.

I would though like to share a scripture to you at John 13: 34,35

"I am giving YOU a new commandment, that YOU love one another; just as I have loved YOU, that YOU also love one another. By this all will know that YOU are my disciples, if YOU have love among yourselves." <---- (This LOVE is for everyone, not just Americans, or not just Iraqis... )

So, I ask that you please keep this scripture in mind while you ask yourself that question again........ This is a commandment that God has made for us....... He never made ANY exceptions. So, is killing really showing LOVE to one another? That is the question.

Hopefully this will help you a bit better to understand God and what his word truly means. Only you can make the truth about God's word your own.Take Care.

I don't envy your situation. There is nothing to forgive. Have compassion for the people in Iraq in their situation, and for yourself as well. It's easy to get there and hate them. Because if you hate someone, it would be easier to kill them. But saving yourself, or your friend isn't hatred. It's doing what has to be done. If you love them all in your heart, you are doing God's work. Hate is what separates us from humanity. Good luck on your journey, and God Bless.

You are saving many lives to help your country....you will be forgiven for taking a life if you have too. But don't do it just because you can. I thank you for going there and being who you can be and protecting our country...just remember that you are human and they are too. You are both fighting for something you believe in.

Yes...you will be! You didnt murder out of anger! Remember when David killed Goliath? Well...he didnt do it out of hate or anger, he did it to save God's people! So just pray to the Lord and ask him to protect you! In the bible it says there will be wars and rumors of wars! So honor him while you are over there and God Bless You! I wish you all the luck and support in the World!

Only God can answer that question. If it bothers you, pray that you will never be put into that situation.

I caried a loaded weapon every day that I was on duty and during the Gulf War, but I thank God that I never had to shoot anyone.

Yes, I know you will, because you are going there to protect and to fight for freedom....and sometimes in order to protect, you have to takes lives. I know how hard this must be for you, but know that God is with you and that I thank you from the bottom of my heart, and many others do, too! I will pray for your safety and for peace in your heart. God bless you and your family.

Do not commit murder... the Bible says...if your enemy hits you... turn the other cheek and let him hit your other cheek...be meek and your reward will be great. Hear God brother and listen ... if you refuse it is like you calling God a liar...ask for forgivness too...and give ur sin to Jesus who will do away with it and know that you are forgiven my brother i love you
