how can i feel less guilty? at night, my 3 month old kitten always runs around and goes crazy. then he sorta calms down. but my family says that we should keep him in one area at night when we're all sleeping so he doesn't run aroudn the house. now i feel sorta guilty because we have to put a "fence" up. (but not outside) i heard him meowing before and i feel soooo guilty. i want him to feel free and welcome in our home. what should i do?

take down the fence.....kittens/cats are naturally nocturnal, they sleep during the day and play/hunt at night....it's part of their charm.

Don't feel guilty. All you'll be doing is keeping him safe at night when no one can watch him. He's just a little kitten and could get in to a lof of mischief that can hurt him when he's not suprvised. Your parents are very wise to decide to do this. As he gets older he wont need to be supervised so much and he'll be more calm. :) dont feel guilty or bad at all, it's a great suggestion.

Sounds like the midnight crazies...you can try having hard core play time right before bed. Really wear him out by playing with him. Try laser pointer, feathers on stick things, chasing balls you know whatever he likes playing with. But really who cares if he runs around the house??? Just shut the doors to the rooms that he doesn't need to be in and he should be fine. Glad to hear you're keeping him indoors, cats are ALOT safer that way!!!
