I would like to add that I had been tested for everythng six months prior to meeting him. I was upfront with him and told him I didn't have sex freely and always used protection. He said he too had just been tested. So eventually we stopped using protection and then two months afterwards he told me he had a relationship with a girl prior to us and she had it......he flat out lied to me......I would never do that to anyone, I wasn't given the choice to continue the relationship and ended up being terribly hurt. I know of so many others who have sex without telling their potential partners. It is just wrong.

If you take people in a store (who say they have never had herpes) and line up the adults in groups of four. One out of every four people will have herpes and not even know it. It is very common. Do you take medication for it? There are some great meds that can keep you from getting sores or outbreaks and keep you outbreak free. Talk to your doctor. Don't let this ruin your life.

I would date a guy with herpes if I love him and if he's honest about it straight away. It's not what disease you have that makes a relationship, it is what is inside that counts. And if guys walk away from you, then they aren't worth your time / effort.

As a matter of fact, I have a bestfriend who dated a guy who had herpes and they've been together 3 years now and happier than I've ever seen a couple before. Not sure, but I also see a very near in the future marriage for them too.

Good luck!!!!!!!

I am absolutely terrified and I feel so alone. I just found out last week that I tested positive for hsv1 and 2. I have been with the same man for the past 10 years and within the last year found out that he has cheated on me with numerous women. I am so scared that I can give it to my children by kissing them and them eating with me...I feel like my whole life has changed. And even though the nurses, my doctor, and websites say that a lot of people have it I still feel like I am by myself. My self esteem has dropped and I feel like I have been used up. But now, My life is very happy.

gee i am sorry to hear that... i would not want to date someone with herpes but i have known woman that does.. i know one girl that got married to an older man and she was suppose to have herpes...i guess it would depend on the girl.. i do not know can they get it if you do not have a herpes breakout or can they...well i hope you the best and i do not think surley this will change your life so much that you cannot find someone to share your life with.. just be more careful from now on.. with aids out there and no telling what kind of disease...

If I feel in love with a person with herpes then yes I would be with them alright. But I would avoid sexual contact that would risk me catching it

If you love the person, and they were straight forward with you from the begining.....then YES. even though there is a possibility of catching it, you can make sure that you are using safe sex methods, and there are ways to manage it, even though there is no cure!
