Waikiki, Oahu. Zoo, Glow Putt Minature Golf, Waikiki Aquarium, beach, Body boarding, tidepools, picking up shells & looking at the small fish, Waterpark, short hikes, Arizona Memorial, USS Missori (where the Japanese signed the document to end the WWII & Bishop Museum, (very educational, these 2 are mandatory for kids if you're on Oahu), snorkeling, learn to surf,Polynesian Cultural Center, in Laie on the North Shore (where the more secluded beaches are), also very educational. There are free walking tours of Waikiki & downtown Honolulu. Oahu is the least expensive Island. We take our kids to the beach a lot, they wear themselves out & the hot sun helps them sleep very well at night. Ask for children's discounts. You can catch the Bus for $2 - adults& .75 or $1 for the kids, they also sell weekly passes if you want to save some money. You can walk all over Waikiki so you don't need a rent a car for the whole time.

Having gone to Hawaii several times I would say Waikiki is best for a family with young children. How young? There is a big Water park that has rides fo the older kids, nice pools with slides for the younger kids. The zoo is quaint and younger children will love it. If you go on Saturday you will see local artists displaying their work outside the zoo. There is the Marine museum there that young and old alike enjoy. There are shows, hikes and walks. My kids loved the Dole Pineapple Maze and orchard. We enjoyed renting a jeep for the day and just driving out to the North Shore and stopping at various beaches to watch the HUGE surf. The Barfoot Fun cruise is nice. You go out on a boat with a floating trampolene for about 4 hours. There is plenty of good snorkeling and lunch. Dont let the crowds scare you.. Waikiki is plenty big for everyone.

waikiki ouahu
our family has tried every island and only waikiki has the best family atmosphere. there are lots of things to do and most things are in walking distance or else there is a city bus that will take you to where you need to go. the beach is like 1 block away and there are lots of pools that can be used. the boardwalk is fun and there are lots of catamarans that the kids would like sometimes you get to see dolphins. there is an aquairium on the boardwalk and also a walk through aquairium in the city. if you stay on lewers street there is a dennys and mc donalds and lots of little resturants and stores, there is also a swap meet on saturdays were everything is cheep. let me know where you choose i have more info if you want it email me

I Just got back from Maui. The Ka'anapoli Beach Hotel in West Maui has the best beach front (awesome stretch), steps to Whaler's Village shops, a whale shaped pool, a giant checker board, tons of activities for the kids, nightly free music outdoors (only until 9:00) is a safe environment, not far to the aquarium, even closer to Lahaina Town, in the middle of everything, really is excellent, and not that trashy Honolulu nonsense.

Go to Waikiki or Honolulu.
I lived in Honolulu for 16 years and grew up there as a child. There is Sea Life Park (a small Sea World), Hanauma Bay is a enclosed reef area where you can snorkel and swim safely, the zoo, etc. Lots of fun things to do with kids. The other islands are fantastic too but I don't think there is as much to do with children in tow.

there is not any reason to imagine "nightlife and partying." stay south of Cancun to make certain a number of genuine Mexico (the persons, the shops, the foodstuff and eating places) then also pass see the Mayan ruins, visit the excellent water parks, snorkeling/scuba diving/fishing/swimming with dolphins. benefit from the seashores, do different vacationer relaxing issues, and so on. this can be very academic on your toddlers at this age. {That even includes gaining expertise of a few Spanish words*, and procuring and paying with pesos.} * please, thanks, one, 2, how a lot, the position is the bathroom, ,, Hawaii also has a lot to furnish a family individuals, consisting of children. i ought to recommend the Yucatan Peninsula this twelve months (beforehand they're previous sufficient to imagine about nightlife and partying - and to get the cultural benefit) and then do Hawaii in a pair years - because there'll continuously be sufficient there to do as a family individuals regardless of older (and extra self sufficient) children

I would have to agree with the majority of posters and say that Honolulu / Waikiki is best for families. there are other places in Hawaii that adults may enjoy more if all you want to do is lounge on the beach , or soak in the nature , but kids might get bored fast. Honolulu is loaded with all kinds of places to go and things to do.

This former island boy will say either OAHU (where I am from) or MAUI, KAUAI or BIG ISLAND.
Make a list of points of interest you wanna see and narrow it down to which island you wanna hob nob with the family.
If you are lookin for non stop excitement then OAHU it is. If you are lookin for some R&R, its the outer islands.
