i have a friend that did everything the right way for citizenship. because of the new laws and fights from those who are illegally here. he is being punished in having to start over after 1000's of dollars and lawyers as well as all he was waiting for was his legal social and his citizenship would be done. he never asked the government for help. he pays all his bills paid for his children hospital bills to be born. no government help there either. yet he is getting shafted and he is the right way a person gets it done. he has been paying taxes for years also. where is that fair and why isn't there clauses for those who were doing it the right in the first place based on the laws on the books before all this unfairness stuff was claimed.

You can thank the Democrats for that. Remember it isn't "politically correct" to do things the right way.

Wait a minute. If he entered illegally, without a visa, he didn't do things the right way. If he thought he was eligible for citizenship because he had been here the whole time, but he didn't have a social security card or number when he entered, then he DID NOT do things the right way.
If he didn't report, every single year, in January to inform INS that he was in this country and if he couldn't produce a visa to prove that, then he wasn't in this country the right way.
The right way to enter this country is to get a visa from INS - which is now called Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
Whether or not he asked the government for help is beside the point. If he had or had not asked the government for help is irrelevant. If he didn't have a visa and a passport to be in this country and if he didn't have a green card issued by Immigration and Naturalization Services, then he wasn't in this country legally.
Sorry, but unfair as it seems, there are people waiting in refugee camps all over the world. In Dafur, Togo, the Phillipines, Somalia and Afghanistan there are people waiting as long as seven years to get cleared to enter the United States.
This is the United States. People have to wait a long time to get in here. Unlike other countries where people have to wait in long lines to get out, in this country people have to wait to get in.
Your friend took cuts to the front of the line at the expense of other refugees from really despotic countries who were in danger of being tortured and made political prisoners. Cuts used to work for citizens of Central and South America. They don't work anymore.

Your question syntax is a perfect example of time well wasted when you should have learned English. While I sympathize with your friend's situation, there is no denying that illegal immigration has severely impacted your friend's situation. It is the same as someone cutting in line at the store. Illegal immigration is to blame as it appears that your friend is a victim of the failed INS bureaucracy. I still do not understand what the problem is. Becoming an citizen is so easy, unless your friend has not learned English, the other criteria is almost too easy. Suggest you see one of the many websites for becoming a citizen (www.ins-experts.com) and fire the lawyers.

People would have you believe that all illegal immigrants need do is apply for citizenship and they will get it. I have relatives who live across the border, and I can tell you, even if you meet all the criteria, speak perfect english, know American history, it takes years to make it through the beauracracy. Why go through that, when you can cross the border illegally, and make wages that are lower than minimum wage but still more than you make in your own country. People think we should kick them out, that they are taking our jobs, and money - the truth is they are saving us money by doing jobs that educated Americans don't even want to do, and with less wages then we would have to legally give Americans. I say let them stay, and make it easier for them to come. This country was made great by absorbing other cultures, thriving off the competition it created, and improving on the new ideas.

People don't show the respect that God tells us we must have toward each other. Please know that it seems hard right now, but I believe that things will work out for you. "The Lord daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation." - Psalm 68:19. Read Psalm 35 to (Plead My Cause) - It is long winded but worth every moment spent with reading it. Try and read this daily for positive results. It has certainly helped me and I know that it will help you. Read Psalm 4 for (Safety and Protection) - It will help you to avoid unknown occurrences that you shouldn't have to experience. Above all, remember this, "If God be for us, who can be against us?" - Romans 8:31. Peace and God Bless.

I'm going to leave yahoo answers if I hear one more sad story. everyone thinks I'm illegall. **** people beat up other latinos (not the actual mexicans) just because they look illegall. another term for latino is mexican how screwed up is that. most of my friends arent actual mexicans. I'm going to get some proof that I'm legal so that before they beat me up, I show them i did nothing wrong. and no, illegalls actualy help the economy. I had a friend that was about to become a gangster because he wanted to get back at the rednecks.
