no, only interest you paid if you have a mortgage on the house you live in. rent is not deductible. unless possibly it is a business expense?

The only way you could possibly deduct a portion of your rent is if you run a business out of your residence and can identify a specific area in your residence that is for business only.

In Michigan it can. We use the homestead property tax credit form. (1099CR) There is a place on there for renters. You do need your landlord's name, address and phone number. Depending on what you made that year, it can make a decent difference in your refund!
