There is no connection at all...

I am an athlete myself to start with
We can not say that we are better driver than average persons but I would like to say that we are good drivers
See, the fact that athletes work out on regular basis, that stimulates their blood circulation, their brain activity es, their alert levels and their physical stamina, all of which are needed for a good driver,
Add to that , athletes usually don't consume much alcohol and don't do drugs, I mean real athletes.
My advise to you, go to the gym and work out on regular basis or pick up a sport you like and do it,
You'll find yourself a very good driver.
Good Luck,
Macho

Actually, yes. Since most athletes work out on a regular basis, they are generally in better health and feel better, so they are less prone to incidents of road rage or purposely driving like a maniac.
