NEVER EVER HIT OR YELL AT YOUR BIRD THIS WILL ONLY MAKE IT WORSE!!!
When your bird bites you simply grab your birds beak and say no biting in a calm serious voice and repeat the process of what you were going to do.
For good behavior use positive reinforcement, offer food, words of praise or head scratches.

When you hit or "flick" a bird it is the SAME THING AS "flicking" a baby!!!
If you do that they will completely shut dow from you..like a baby would if you hit them. Just say no and keep doing that or maybe the lovebird is bitting you because it does'nt like what you are doing. So, just talk to the bird.
But, please do not flick the beak or do anything like that. Birds are very very sensitive. They really bite only when they don't like what the person is doing.

Apparently YOU are not well trained by your lovebird. Listen to it, watch it and you will come to understand what it wants. If it bites, simply say its name and then no, or no bite. I hand feed my little lovebird, 14 years old. Its a routine now and he communicates by nugging my cheek when he is hungry. I then go through the list of food he gets - such as mixed seeds, millet, frozen then thawed corn in water, or whipped cream until I find the right one. He will nudge me again when I get it right but sometimes gets impatient waiting till I understand and I get nipped slightly. He rarely breaks the skin and its his way of saying "finally"! If your bird really bites then you are not understanding it or what it wants. Be patient, you are not done in YOUR training.

scream very loudly to get someone's attention, and have them gently pry him off..... I was bitten by a rogue lovebird and he drew blood - but I had my husband pry him off because I was afraid I would hurt the dumb thing if I flicked it.

Get over it. Birds do that. You were probably doing something to annoy it or handling it too roughly. Or you stuck your finger in the cage between the bars.

Flick it lightly on it's beak and tell it no, it will eventually learn. I used to work at a pet store, so I know these kinds of things.
