I was not sure that I believed in God for a long time and then Several years ago I had an unusual experience concerning an uncle, a distant relative who lived over a thousand miles away.

While driving my car I suddenly felt the unmistakable presence of this relative that I hardly even knew. He was more like someone I had heard about than someone I knew. It was very strange; it felt as though I was momentarily lifted right out of my physical body. I seemed to be suspended somehow beyond space and time, bathed in a love so intense It felt like I could have just disappear into it at any moment if It would have let me. It only lasted for a few seconds, but it seemed to last forever at the same time. I realize how crazy this must sound. The experience was so strong that at first I was afraid I was loosing my grip on reality. I finally managed to chalk it up to an over active imagination.

Three days later I got a call from my aunt telling me that this uncle we are talking about had gone into a coma and died the day I had the experience. It felt like ice water had been poured down my back when she told me this. I had lost any real ideas of God or faith and had become somewhat of an atheist. Needless to say this experience caused me to rethink some of the conclusions I had come to.

I feel blessed to now understand that even in our darkest confusion something loves us so much that it went out of its way to assist me and bring me back to a state of absolute certainty about Gods love for us.
During the experience it seemed like there was a vast amount of information that I was somehow allowed access to. One thing that I came away from this experience understanding beyond any shadow of a doubt was that any Idea that God is unhappy with us or would judge or allow us to be punished for any reason is simply impossible.

I can’t explain the love I felt with words. They simply don’t make words big enough or complete enough to do this. The only way I can begin to convey this love to you is to say that there was simply nothing else there. Nothing but love. No hint of judgment, no displeasure of any sort. It is as though God sees us as being as perfect as we were the day we were created. It is only in our confused idea of ourselves that we seem to have changed.

I hope this is of some help to you. Good luck. Love and blessings.

Your brother don

Good ?. I wish I could give you that absolute for sure answer but I can't. Believing in God is a spiritual thing. I look at it this way, For all the things man has made, we don't come close to all the beautiful things on this planet. We cannot create life. Someone had to do it. To believe in a God gives us hope. To not believe seems very empty and lonely. If there is no God, then what is our purpose and why do we care. The fact that we have emotions and a desire to find our creator tends to make me think there is a God. Make any seance to you? I like the song that says "You have to believe in something or you'll fall for anything."

Have you ever wondered how things balance in life, I mean really wonder? When you look at a flower and notice the bee flying from bud to bud, sucking up the pollen to take back to the hive, have your ever taken a journey in your mind of the process that is taking place?
The bee fills the hive with the honey and most just simply say cool, I have honey for my tea or cooking or whatever, but just think of what that bee really does for all living things....
Every thing the bee pollenates grows, and for everything that grows, something, be it animal, insect, man and everything in between take nourishment from it.
Look at the law of survival and the balance of nature as a result. If it weren't for the wolf too many deer would exsist, and if it wasn't for the mountain lion, we would have way to much rabbit stew. Look how the conservation of life works all by itself, without any interference of man. When man does interfere we have the destruction of the rain forests and it's abundant life being destroyed. Or, the whales, the majestic creatures of the sea beaching themselves for some unknown reason.
Have you ever starred into the night sky and really, really realized just how infintesimal we really are. Have you watched the moon as it seems to move across the heavens, getting bigger and bigger until the bright light of the sun hides it.
Have you spent time camping in some beautiful meadow, or some majestic mountain, with snow capped summits and cold clear water running in a stream filled with beautifully colored trout that just seem to jump out of the water.
When you gaze upon the vast seas, do you ever think that the world could have ever been covered in water, especially when sea shells are found in places like the Perivan Andes, or as close at Mt St. Helens...
Isn't it amazing that the newborn baby has developed so perfectly (hopefully) in only nine months and wondered just how all the organs, work in such perfect rhythm with each other
When you sit on a rock in the mountains hearing nothing but the wind through the trees and the sound of the birds flying above your head, what do you feel?
Isn't it amazing that the complexities of life are all around you, and that essence of what makes it all work was just something man just "made up". Some magicial powers....
Man did make up the dogma of organized religion from it's inception to control the masses. Man did not make up life and it's magnificent wonders, only God could accomplish that one...
Many cultures call the Divinity of God by many names, and they all have different faces, but are they not all the same?
Do you really believe that there is no God?? Can ANYONE, really be alive and breathing and not believe in a GOD?? How is that possible?
Some say, if there was a God, then why all the suffering in the world? Did everyone who denies His presence forget about Satan?
The greatest power humans have is the freedom of choice. It would be an eternal nightmare if we were FORCED to believe in anything, be it God, Satan, the Prince of Egypt, the guy down the street. How would anyone of them know for sure that we TRULY BELIEVED if we are forced? We CHOOSE what we do, and what we do, or don't do and all of our choices have rewards and consequences. It has NOTHING TO DO WITH GOD, but everything to do with OUR CHOICES. The suffering of innocent children, being born with disabilities, or living a short time, or being brutually murdered, doesn't seem fair, but wait, could it be that this brutallity, this unfairness is a result of something that we are meant to learn and grow from?
I cry just like everyone else when I hear of things like this, my heart breaks but with each horror I hear, I see, it makes me a better human. For I understand just a little bit more, just how much Satan, and the evil in the world wants to destroy it's beauty, and I work hard everyday to try to be the best I can be as a result.

So, now... You tell me... Is there a God??

Is there such a thing as a life? I personally take an approach in my beliefs akin to if there is a God, where is he now? attitude, but that doesn't mean I don't believe in an existance of a higher being. God maybe gone, he maybe dead for all we know, or his conception might even be something humanity has dreamed up a long time ago, but his existance is in fact a reality. A friend of mine explained it to me like this, If you don't believe, and there really is a God and life after death, well, then your in trouble, but if you do believe, and there is no such thing as life after death, or at least not a heaven/hell divison, then what have you lost? not much!

Yes..

For scientific and intellectual evidence for the existence of God, see http://www.godsci.org/gs/godsci/evidence.htm

I used to be an atheist. Over a period of time however, I grew convinced of the existence of the Christian God, and ultimately committed my life to Christ (e.g., see http://www.godsci.org/gs/chri/testimony/seek.html ).

Cordially,
John

nope he was created by weak men afraid of the boogey man known as the unknown. God had to explain the world in terms the men understood. So they made stories to explain the world.
