If you sneak attack a country and kill thousands of people, all the while talking peaceful on the political side at the same time, should you not pay the price?

Japan was warned before either bomb was dropped and they still did not heed the warning. They were even told which city was going to be hit each time.

I personally think it says a lot about the US Military that only two were dropped in the span of 3 days, and warning was given prior to both. Any other weapon and it would have been used extensively, and without warning. The bombs were not dropped in hate, they were not dropped carelessly. They were dropped to stop a determined enemy that would not surrender unless faced with total annihilation.

Estimates are that Millions of people would have died had the US invaded Japan, on both sides. This was a war started by a Japanese sneak attack against America. America's answer was more than Japan could handle.

If you smack me and I smack you back, don't complain.

I think I was unclear about describing what I was asking. I would never expect the Japanses people to get over it. I'm talking about people that render judgement on the fact that Atomic bombs were used. Some don't even care that Japanses people were killed in the attacks, they just see the Bomb and criticize the action. Some don't even know the circumstances of their use, but they are the first to say "The US used Atomic Bombs... You Bastards!"

Why is that?

I apologize if anyone thought I was refering to the Japanese people. They have every right to be angry over it, as we do about Pearl Harbor, 9/11 or any other national tragedy.

I think everyone ought to get over it. Including the Japs. We killed more in Dresden Germany with fire storms, than in Hiroshima, and Nagasaki combined. It was WAR.
If there are any Japanese who are offended by this...oh well. Your ancestors should have thought about that before they sucker punched us.

For you to ask others when they will forget the day their citizens were killed by the hundreds of thousands is the same as a foreigner asking us when we will forget 9-11. Even though the reasons for the attack or completely justifiable to people like you or me, all that is on their minds is the footage and pictures of their citizens suffering. I fail to see why something like that is so hard for people to grasp. I agree with our decision to drop the bombs, but I don't make believe like the other side is gonna see it like I do. But I guess unfortunately many grown ups like to make believe nowadays. Also to imply those bombs were dropped without an ounce of hateful intention is about the stupidest thing I have ever heard, and I always hear the "enemy" would not surrender unless faced with total annihilation, well I just hope we are as devoted to our country when we are invaded. It is truly sad that so many people see war as a one sided equation, that's probably why war has been so prevalant these past few millenium.

When I talk to folks other than Americans, a lot of them think America started WWII through their naval blockade of Japan. America did not like Japan's movement into China and Korea, so America imposed a naval blockade to try and starve off the Japanese economy.

America fifty years later is still playing as the world's policeman.

War is War, The Atomic bombs saved an estimated 1 million U.S. servicemen's lives, and probly about 5-10 million more Japanese who would have fought to the death.

Never. It is one of those atrocities in history that will be written as barbaric throughout all time.

Honestly, do you really believe they were warned? Do you think mothers with children were warned and just said, 'oh well let's stay here and die sufferring...'

As for your 'smack me .. smack u back..' It's more like, "if u smack me I will murder your mothers, wives and children." We condemned Saddam for gasing the Kurds who had committed acts of treason against him by helping Iran when Iraq and Iran were at war... but you are justifying this?

Wow...unbelievable twists on history. The US did try to get Japan out of China but it was a full scale war. Japan was slaughtering the Chinese. Television, to call it a movement is a huge understatement. The US saved millions of Chinese and countless others by blowing the sh!t out of Japan. You Can bet you azz we would do it again if necessary.
