You could get a rough idea by going to
http://genforum.genealogy.com/adoption/
or some of the sites listed on
http://directory.google.com/Top/Home/Family/Adoption/Search_and_Reunion/Registries/
Read the posts. In my experience, 95% of the posts are from adopted children looking for their bio parents. That would indicate that although the parents wonder, they think it unwise to look for them.
In another guise, I look through surname-based genealogy boards. 1 - 3 out of every hundred posts I read are from adoptees looking for bio parents. The two links above are the ones I reccommend to them.

I can tell you that as a mother who placed a child for adoption, that you never EVER forget about that child. I got lucky. I found my daughter after 17 years and have had a great time the last two years getting reaquainted. I really feel for you and what you must be going through. I am sure your parents did what they thought was best for you at the time.
Good luck!!:)

Yes, I put up a child for adoption, It was a boy and I couldn't tell you the birthday even because I was having problems at the time (some things you just don't want to remember) but I do think about if I ever meet him.

I went to school with twin girls who where adopted. And later on they found out there parents wondered about them all the time but they knew they did the best thing for them by giving them up.

Of course they wonder. I have a friend that had 7 abortions. She has guilt and wonders all the time. I am amazed after all the scarring she had two more children and she loved them so much that she felt alot of guilt.

I'm adopted also and I often wonder this too, and I think that they do still think about me at least occasionally

I've been involved in adoption search for years. All I can say is that every single birthmother I have talked to says she never forgets.
