Christianity is a faith. Catholicism is a religion..it's like Christianity is the base and then all the religions like Baptist, Lutheran, and Catholic etc. span off from Christianity. Each their different views but all believe that Jesus is the Savior! :)

The Catholic denomination is just that, a denomination (or branch) of Christianity. Just like Baptist, Protestant , Lutheran, etc.

There are also non-denominational Christians, which I am. I use to be Catholic though and married a Lutheran. Lutheran and Catholic and I think Methodist are all very similar. One of the things that these denominations do that non denominational, Baptist and Pro distant do not is praying to saints and Mary and doing confessions to the Priest. Although I view this as wrong (the praying to anyone except God, yes, Jesus is God) I also believe that there are many of them that truly do have a relationship with Christ and are saved. I would consider them mislead. I can not say that they are mislead, for it is not for me to judge. That is just my opinion.

Also, the Catholic Mass is basically ritual in its form. They even have a separate book that outlines what mass will be performed on each day mass is done. The other denominations do not. The services are of course planned out, but are not repetitive. The same subject may be taught in 2, 3 or as many as 10 different presentations.

That is the basics, there are probably more I didn't list.

Both are Christians. Catholics are the earlier Christians while Protestant broke off the the Papal rule in Rome.

The main different in the crucifix is the image the corpse nailed on the cross was taken down, while Catholic keeps the image there to remind them of him.

Also Catholics venerate on images especially Holy Mary, while Protestants just worship only Christ.

It's like the difference between a rectangle and a square... Some rectangles are squares, but not all squares are rectangles...
Catholics are a major denomination of Christianity, but Christianity is much larger than any one denomination. Every denomination has its errors, so they differ one from another, but the basic truths they agree on... except for cults of Christianity like Jehovah's witnesses and Mormans and some others, who have major errors of understanding some of the basic elements of Christianity. Hope this helps

Catholics and Christians both follow the teachings of Jesus the Christ.

There are many different groups of Christians including Catholics, Protestants, Baptist, Lutheran, Anglican, Pentecostal, Mormon etc. etc. Each group simply follows their own dogma and doctrines, as well as different versions of the bible.

Many Christians seem to think that Catholics "worship idols" because they have statues symbolizing Jesus, the Virgin Mary and other Saints in the church.

Catholics assert that they do not "worship" these symbols, but adore and respect them and ask for their intercession.

Frankly, I find the pettiness of this nitpicking between the groups tiresome, which is why I no longer align myself with one or another.

I follow my own beliefs of love, peace, kindness and truth, knowing that the truth is different for each of us, based on our personal perception.

U know the saying"like chalk & cheese ?", well...... that has nothing to do with it.
Catholics r "roman catholics" & the roman catholic church denies that priests r paedophiles (anyone with 1/2 a brain knows they r).
Christians don't have 1/2 a brain so they believe anything that a so-called "leader" of a christian church says, like give me all your money so I can go to europe skiing & discuss with other "leaders" how to help the poor in Africa.

There are many levels of both. I'd have to say that the main differences are in the authority of the Church. The Roman Catholics are pointing to the Pope and that heirarchy. The Protestant tends to point at scripture as being the supreme authority.

I think that the Protestants are the right ones on that aspect.

Nothing. Christianity is the brand name of all the religions that fall beneath it, example Catholic, Baptist,Presbryterian etc. They all worship the same God and all believe that Jesus dies on a cross to give everlasting life in heaven/
