There are many concepts of what a "good singer" is. There may be a whole lot of singers who can sing technically better then let's say Neil Young. But that so called better singer may not touch the heart, let alone the soul. Why don't we open a Yahoo-stage and let's hear what your voice can do with our hearts. It's so easy to record some vocals and Mp3 it to the stage. Not to create a new idol but to really enjoy and support each other's musical flow, Love Saskia

First of all, do NOT ask family members!! Have you ever watched the American Idol auditions. Many times I have wondered why friends and family have lied and told people they sing well! Remember William Hung. I mean, dude could SO not sing! His mom probably told him he was the best thing since sliced bread! Depending on your age, you could sign up for talent shows (if you attend school) or you could go to a club when they have amatuer night and see if you get any positive respones. I do not know your age, so it is hard to make any other suggestions.

I wish I knew you...I would be able to tell. Sorry. Just go up to someone and ask their opinion. Or visit your local school and look for the music teacher..

If you don't mind listening to yourself. I know, the sound of your own voice can be dull, I find, but the more you study and practice, you'll see it emerge and surprise yourself at what you can do. I think deep down you know.

(1) the windows do NOT shatter when you sing

(2) squirrels DON'T hurl anything they can get a hold of at you in protest

(3) people around you DON'T involuntarily succumb to facial spasms and contortions

if you sing and blood comes out of peoples ears... you're not a good singer.

Well, if you sing and people don't cringe or run in the oppostie direction, you're not bad. If they smile and listen, you're good.

Try recording yourself and listening. Do YOU think you're good?

You sing for other people (people who can be honest) and have them tell you what they think. Either that or record yourself acapella and listen then evaluate your preformance.
