I don't know you, but I know you have chosen to help the hurting as your life's work and I can infer that you are an intellectually capable young man.
I find it hard to believe that you are not intellectually (not spiritually, just intellectually) curious about the "fairy tales" that so many millions of people get crazy over. Doesn't it intrigue you that all of these people can get so passionate over these stories? Can you account for the fact that some people you know - people whom you respect and regard as at least as intelligent as yourself - nevertheless believe many of the same things these "crazies" profess?
I'm not asking you to believe in my God's word - I know that's a bridge too far from where you stand right now. But allow your curiosity to lead you to an exploration of that which you don't know or understand. Had the great scientists and physicians of the past not acted upon their curiosity, you wouldn't be able to provide hope and comfort to your patients today because the great medical discoveries of the past would never have taken place.
Sit down and have a good read of it. Talk with others about the parts that don't make sense or sound ridiculous (I'm with you - there's plenty of craziness in the Bible!). Think hard about that which you find of value - that which rings essentially true to you (I guarantee you'll find some of that, as well). Try to read the "fairy tales" as myths and see where that understanding leads you.

A true Christian would pray that you find God and that is up to no one but you. Everybody has the right to believe what they want to, I do not believe that the Bible is a fairy tale it is however a very complex book that many people do not and can not understand. Many things that are written in the Bible have come to pass and there are many things that are to come. There are many missing books things that will never be known because of man and his own fears. The only way to find the answers that one seeks is to educate yourself. Ultimately man kind will cause his own destruction. I don't care if you think that the Bible is a fairy tale. It just shows a lack of intelligence an failure to educate yourself.

First, our duty to tell you about the Christian message. You either believe it or you don't.
Christians believe that the Christian bible is God's word as spoken through the prophets. This is another belief (one that I have).
The central theme is: God kept his promise with Jesus (Jesus means God help/saves/delivers); Jesus was executed and God raised him from the dead (our hope for eternal life); and Jesus will return.
Heaven is where God is; hell is where he is not; and earth is where man is. The Christian goal is to be with God in heaven.
There, you have it. The Christian message that Jesus asked his follower to make disciples in all nations.
You can believe it or not. Call the message what you like, but now you have a choice. You can look within yourself to see what you believe. If you don't know, ask one of the crazies to help you find out.

Believe it or not there are those of us who do care about people and what happens to them after you leave this earthly life.
You see it really doesnt matter what you believe because even if you dont believe in God He is still there and always will be there is nothing you do about that and your unbelief wont change it either.
I can tell you that I do love you as Jesus does and will pray that you one day open your eyes and heart and recieve that gift of a peace and love that surpasses all others ....... having Jesus as head of your life.
Im not gonna preach to you or push you..... its not how things are supposed go, but I want you to know God loves you whether you believe that or not.

It's not ALL Christians, just the more devout ones. They do it because they think they are doing you a favor to help you see the ways of the Lord, helping you help yourself kind of thing. It's perfectly fine if you don't believe in it, but please do not resort to calling the Bible a fairy tale, that's just offensive.

Then stop asking questions targeted at Christians, simple as that. Really, I don't care what you believe or don't believe, doesn't affect my life one bit. If you don't like having discussions with Christians, go somewhere else or ask questions of someone else. You remind me of a little child who is continually poking their sibling with a stick, then when the sibling reacts and takes the stick away, the child whines about it. You use inflammatory language to attack our beliefs, them complain when we answer you. Sheesh, if you can't handle it, go do something else.

You are curious, aren't you. You don't understand because you don't know Him. He is Love, pure and simple. Because we have discovered that wonderful liberating truth, we can't help but want to share that Love. And telling the truth, that is the Word of God, is giving that Love. Do you hate us because we tell you the truth?
The gospel of Jesus Christ is greater than any fairytale because it's true!

I love you and I care about your eternal destiny. I want you to know that Jesus loves you and wants you to turn to Him. I have done what God has commanded me to do and that is to tell you the Good News. Now what you do with it is your choice. Now you can't tell Jesus on that day that you never heard. I hope you will do the right thing with this opportunity that you have and turn from the world and turn to Jesus. From this point you have no excuse.

So WHY are you in this forum if you don't believe in God? I truly believe you are searching for the Truth, and if you would open your mind and heart, God would reveal Himself to you. Trust me. There are NO atheist after death.
The reason a Christian will tell you they are praying for you is because they LOVE you and don't want you to spend eternity without God.

I respect your choice...
--
Please be aware that there is scientific and intellectual evidence for the existence of God (e.g., see http://www.godsci.org/gs/godsci/evidence.htm)
I used to be an atheist. Over a period of time however, I grew convinced of the existence of the Christian God, and ultimately committed my life to Christ (e.g., see http://www.godsci.org/gs/chri/testimony/seek.html ).
Cordially,
John
