The very first sin ever committed was the sin of Arrogance!
First, there is the thought of arrogance. Then there is the decision of arrogance. Then there is the action of arrogance.
As with Satan, first he thought it, then he decided it...and then he did it! He led the first great revolt in the universe. He started the first conspiracy in the universe! This is the pre-historic angelic conflict!
And by the way, this is why the first sin mentioned in God's top seven is arrogance, the sin of Satan! Arrogance is satanic. And arrogance is found in tremendous measure among born again believers
Lucifer's (in the Hebrew Heylel) five "I will..."s
Basically Lucifer choose his own volition over God's volition.

According to the Bible, sin came from when people dis-obeyed God. The classic story of Adam & Eve living in perfection: The Garden of Eden. Conditions supposedly were set by God, but somebody got a bit curious and now we have churches all around the world trying to please a strict God who decided that people should pay for their sin.
That's one belief. Do others have other beliefs or theories? Or is there really any such thing as sin? Or is this all just a made-up scenario to address why people react differently in different situations, and why guilt exists?

Sin came into the world when Adam and Eve disobeyed God and ate the forbidden fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. Since that time every person born on this earth is born into sin. Sounds awful. But, God sent us Jesus to save us from the sin and from the judgement of God. Read the first few chapters of Genesis in the bible, then John, and Romans.

Sin is where man tries to become divine. We know there are writings older than the bible, but in the bible, it is introduced in Genesis when Adam and Eve eat the forbidden fruit of knowledge.
There are others that can expand on this, and frankly, you do not need my help with what is sin. I have given you the Judeo-Christian view where sin came from.
I hope it is enough for you to read the Christian bible further for other information.

Thats a good question. Who decided what sin was or who made it up. I guess the answers you will get will go something like this: well the bible is gods word and he said sin is this so thats where sin comes from. Watch.

Eve ate from the apple then gave it to Adam - Adam ate knowing it was wrong - so Basically Edam and Eve both sinned. They were the first to go against God's Will.

It came from our heads. We are essentially loving beings, but we made up an idea of "sin" to describe, more or less, what we are not. Most people would say just the opposite, I suppose. But I think the reason we call things "good" is that we see ourselves in good things. We are generally afraid of things that are different from us, but we are never afraid of things that are "good"...no, we are afraid of sin, of evil.

The word SIN means missing the mark or the target.
GODS law requires perfection - anytime anything misses perfection, they commit a sin.
Satans sin is the first one mentioned in the christian bible.

Sin came from knowledge of what is right and what is wrong. At least according to the bible.

The first time it's mentioned in the bible, it is a live thing, "sin crouches outside your door", not to Adam and eve,but to their kid.
I think it's hog wash. If it feels wrong don't do it, if you think its wrong, don't do it. You should be in control of your behavior. We can't help how we feel or what we want (sometimes) but we can help what we do about those things.
Why would any adult person need religion to keep them in line, can't you think for yourself.
