I don't think there's a Delia's in the city. I know there's one in woodbury (upstate. You should actually go there. A shopping outlet!) I like to shop at the Manhattan Mall(stores like Aeropostale, Charlotte Russe, Victoria's Secret, iPOD place). Then, you can go to Macy's(the world's largest department store) not too far from there. There's a lot of big shops there like a big Victoria's Secret, Old Navy, H&M, more. Another good place to shop is Madison Ave. which you can see a bunch of shops when you get out of Grand Central Terminal like Ann Taylor, Coach, Express, etc. A must place is 5th Ave.(Sak's, [which is expensive], Lacoste, American Girl Place, Journey's) It's not too far from Times Square. Union Square is my favorite place (Virgin Megastore, DSW, Filene's Basement [good stuff], American Eagle Outfitters), SoHo. If you need more, just contact me at sharaont@yahoo.com

Yup, you are getting advices from people who shopped at places where I still find expensive. Well, may be because they are middle class and I am from a lower working class.

Try downtown Brooklyn (Jay Street especially), Chinatown, Conway, Jamaica Avenue in Queens, Flushing, Queens Boulevard, 125th Street, SYMS, Burlington, and definitely the flea markets or street fairs.

you want to go to Lower East side:
take a walk from 3rd Ave down St. Marks Pl and also check out the streets parallel to that and you'll find plenty of awesome stores
