The officials tell us to report any dead birds especially crows because of the bird flu so I called the animal control who told me to call the police who had me call fish and wild life who said to call the health dept on monday. It is 100 degrees here this guy is going to be ripe. I am not going to touch him. I think the neighbors cats put him on my deck because he was in the yard.

If you have a dead bird and would like to get rid of it, you may complete the following procedure safely without any risk of disease to yourself:

1.) Take a plastic bag that will accommodate the size of the dead carcass and invert it around your hand.

2.) Pick up the bird with your protected hand.

3.) With your other hand wrap the bag around the bird and tie it off.

4.) The bagged bird can then be deposited in an outside garbage receptacle.

Wow, you really got the runaround.
Since no authorities want to come over and pick up the bird, it's probably best you just don't leave him laying there.
My suggestion would be to grab a shovel, dig a hole far away, go back to the bird and, using the shovel, pick it up and bury it in the hole you just dug.
Maybe you could put a big, heavy rock over where you buried it so no animals can dig it up.
If the authorities come back later and want to see or examine the bird, just hand them the shovel and point to where you buried it.

Maybe it just died of natural causes, but I can't believe all those people gave you the run around. I know they are very anxious to find dead birds to test them for West Nile. I would call them back and ***** them out.
