most of the free software downloads only scan spyware. removal is not free.

'Spybot Search and Destroy' , 'Ad Aware' and Microsoft,s windows 'Defender' are all good free programs. I have all 3 and have never had a problem.

there are several "spyware" removal tools available for free download. I have found that a combination of "spybot search and destroy" and "ad-aware" work well. They both can be found at ZD.com. Here is the link for spybot sd. http://downloads.zdnet.com/3000-8022-10401314.html

If you have windows 2000 or xp you could also use Microsoft's "windows defender". at this link.

Personally I liked the Beta 1 version of Microsoft's antispyware.
Remember to update the definition files in whatever program you decide to use.

The 'private use' version of Ad-Aware is completely free and does a fine job. I run it once a week just to keep that spyware crap off my PC. I also have MdAfee Virus Scanner and the the two programs don't seem to clash with each other.
