Well, one of the oldest remedies, (and one that still works today) is to really cover up the nail daily with mentholated cream such as vicks vapo-rub. It produces an anti-fungal and airtight environment which kills off the fungus that causes nail infection. Vasoline will also work, but the menthol-infused petroleum creams work better and faster...just a bit smellier. ;)

The best thing for nail fungus after lamisil is 20 per cent tea trea oil lotion. Keep the affected area clean and rub the lotion under the nail and aroung the nail, massage into the skin. If it's the toe nails, keep your feet clean and dry as well, and wear clean socks and shoes that are not too tight.
It can take weeks for the tea tree oil to work but it does work. It takes up to three months for lamisil to work and it's expensive and only available by prescription. There is also a lamisil cream but again it is by prescription only.

I had a nail infection back in ancient times, and I use to cut off the dead part of the nail and rub an anti-fungal cream on the infection. It eventually went away.

There were Sporanox, Diflucan, Griseofulvin. All of these are associated with a small risk of liver damage. Lamisil seems to be the safest.

I believe the nail was taken off for topical treatment and then allowed to grow back. I know, EUWWW!@!!!

I have to admit that I honestly don't know. Nor have I ever wondered. You need to smoke less pot.

ppl knew that there weren't any special pills so they took care of what they had b/c they knew there would be no going back..lol.. i dunno..
