Japan has a strong economy, and the money could be used to help finance our current war.

Teh same reason the US forgave Britain it's Lend Lease debt and France and All the others includung the Soviet Union. Because it was the right thing to do to promote peace and to help those countries damaged by the war to rebuild. War reparations demanded from Germany by the victors in WW1 were a direct or indirect cause of the rise of the Nazi's. And the US didn't want that sort of thing to happen again. All or most of the debts were forgiven under the Marshall plan.

Name me 1 country who has repaid their war debt to us. France owes us for getting them outof 2 wars,3 if you count Viet Nam. England owes us big for Lend - Lease in WW2.Japan helped us with money during Gulf War 1.

You're an American right....ever heard of history?? Japan had Pearl Harbor... America bombed Nagasaki and Hiroshima... in Pearl Harbor kids still have a life... In Nagasaki and Hiroshima kids get borne with missing legs and arms, missing a kidney and go on... I believe Japan still is paying....

I didn't know they had one.....I understood the US used two atomic bombs and then sent hundreds of millions of dollars in aid to help rebuild Japan. Wasn't aware japan had a deficit with the US. Where did you get that info?

japan would not pay the u.s. a penny to help finance any war against the world. u.s. is alone....and if it were a nuclear war, five fusion bombs from korea would contain enough to eliminate north america. i don't like war, and feel the economic war has already been won by china. if america feels fighting war is a trend, than they can keep doing it!

the reason ww2 happened if you took a history class was because germany had resented paying the allies in ww1 so to make sure a ww3 won't happen they didnt make em pay.

I'm not really sure, but it may be because we owe them so much money that it may not do us much good to remind them of what they owe us.
