When I was a Christian we believed that we and God's kingdom were not of this world. We believed in rendering unto Caesar what was Caesar's and unto God what was God's. We preached daily on the streets to save the lost because we Knew Jesus was coming soon and the time was short. We fed street people and held FREE Jesus Rock Concerts. It wasn't about the money back then. I know that was 20 years ago, but I don't even recognize today's materialistic power hungry church as the same one we had and that ACTS talks about. It's like the church is turning into the Roman Catholicism all over again. Will we have to have another Reformation in a few hundred years to get back to basics?

To answer your question, since I am no longer a christian I really don't go to church much anymore, except when sometimes invited by friends. In the past year I've been to 3 Christian Churches, 2 Muslim mosques and 1 Jewish synagogue.

Sherry K,
you would be surprised how many ex-Christians there are out there, especially the ones who really study the bible. Mark Twain said reading the bible has led more people to atheism then any other cause. Yes, for 15 years I was born again, water baptized, holy spirit filled, tongue talking, jesus talking and bible thumping and would say the same thing that you said. But now that I am free, it is hard to look back and see that I wasted so many years of my life under that delusion that I could of devoted to actually making this world a better place.

We need a reformation NOW! I agree in the last 20 to 30 years the organized Christian religion has forgotten what makes up the Church and who is the Head of it. This is one reason I think we are seeing people 40+ pulling out more and more and having home church services or having small group services where they can count on the King James Scriptures, they can pull their resources and dedicate them to specific needs in their own communities because the "Church" now reaches so far away from home, they've forgotten about their own town. I see a day coming because of the move into political involvement that "Churches" will have to sign on the dotted line and if they don't, their doors won't be open, well, I'm here to tell you, I'll never be a part of a church that has signed on a governments dotted line - because that won't be a church that Jesus Christ is the head of.

Problem is, you make a lot of generalizations that aren't exactly true. I commend you for your service and faithfulness, I hope you are still growing in the faith. Actually, it is the liberal churches who are politically active, more so than the Evangelical churches. It is just that the msm (main stream media) makes a big deal whenever Jerry Falwell says anything, but are tight lipped when Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton go to a liberal church to spout their political beliefs. The IRS has a very short leash on the Evangelical Churches as far political actions go. I have never, in over fifteen years of attending Evangelical churches heard a politician come and give a speech. We are to voice our opinions in the public arena, but we are not so naive in thinking we could ever establish a theocracy, nor would we want one.
By the way, Jesus saves souls, not us.

It's because things have reverted to what I call Freeworld American Christianity. Freeworld American Christianity's politics are worse than the political government's. It's all about image now. When I was in the pennetentiary it wasn't all about that.
There are holdouts staying away from this formed political system. Some as old as 60 years of age and some even as young as me; 27. The real church is still here; even if Freeworld American Christianity as turned into a harlot.

I think you need to update your 20 year old experience with Christianity. The church today is a giving church. They are about doing good and reaching out with the true gospel. God calls his children to stick with Him, through thick and thin, not just remember what they used to do for Him.

You would have to have blinders on to not know how much the Christian Church is contributing to the welfare of the world.

I'm sorry to hear that your not a christian anymore. but agree with you that today's church in a whole is in a sorry condition.Anyone that disagrees is either blind or naive.I challenge you though to continue to seek out God He's worth it .Just because the majority of the church is off doesn't mean that God is any different. Its just that people have turned away from him.

it type of feels to me like you've had some pretty undesirable studies with Christians attempting to witness to you. i do not understand you in my opinion, besides the undeniable fact that it truly makes me unhappy that you imagine that all and sundry persons are searching ahead to you going to hell. from time to time we do do not forget that we are able to not persuade you, yet we'd want to assert that we tried. and that i in my opinion does no longer favor to make certain everybody pass to hell if i ought to save it from happening. purely because we are expecting of it gained't artwork does no longer mean that our tries are insincere. there's a verse contained in the Bible that announces that one man or woman sows, one waters, yet God substances the upward push. truly that signifies that signifies that a range of of human beings play a component in a unmarried man or woman coming to Christ. all of us do not forget that although in case you do not purely immediately change right into a Christian, what we reported had an effect and and a purpose. i wish that in case you do not realize this now, you'll contained in the destiny, and that you're going to fulfill a Christian that easily cares about you.

Certainly hard not to come to this conclusion.
I honestly think hard core Zealots believe that "the end justify the means". And when they are trying to bring about the 'end times' anything goes.
Only the outcome only breeds further hatred for ALL Christians.

What church do you go to? Don't get me wrong, I am not mocking your theory, but I go to a Southern Baptist Church and we are a mission driven church. We believe as much in giving as taking. Every thing the church does is to reflect glory on God, not us.

...WHEN you were a Christian? You can't "lose" true Christianity. It's not something you can put on and take off at will. If you did, however, then you were never a Christian to begin with. Do not generalize because some particular denomination has disappointed you.

..i think your confusing "christian" with organized religeon...yes there is corruption and its sad to see our label of Christian associated with that....i try to look at the good though...i try to look past the multimillion dollar tax shelter complexes and mercedes....alot of churches still help out people in a bind...i know of one that will help you pay ur bills if you lose your job, things like that. the important thing is to live and walk the Christian life as you understand it...do what you can, help who you can, and dont let the corruption around you destroy your own faith...there is hope.
