For anyone who has read the Da Vinci Code and hated it because of the way it portrayed Jesus:

Supposing that the book is 100% factual, how does the message of Jesus change? Does Jesus being married and having children change his ultimate message or the message of Christianity in general.

Serious answers only please. Only people that have read the book or seen the movie please.

I think the biggest problem most people have with the DaVinci code, is they fail to realize that it is a work of fiction. FICTION.
There is absolute nothing that is factual about it. The characters in the book bare some resemblance to actual people, but they are not those people, they are only fictional characters.

Well, I don't see why Jesus couldn't have had a wife and kids of his own... I mean, really, it's the author's opinion. How about freedom of speech? I, for one, believe that all this is possibly factual.
The true message of Jesus is unclear, for people could have changed it overtime for his or her own personal gain. The book does not state that the message of Jesus is different, it states that perhaps the bible doesn't tell the whole truth.
All of the organizations and paintings portrayed in Da Vinci Code really exists.
I loved the book, but haven't seen the movie yet.

I read it and found it to be interesting. Not angry or hate. Just find it amusing in the begining.

What he did is to get all the fact, and mix them at the wrong age, and link with some myth. That is how the story goes.

So, to claim that some of the things mentioned is truth can be rather deciving, but not entirely false. Just twisted truth.

However, when I realised it is so popular, especially among the non-christian, I began to see the negative effect.

Perhaps it is also good for the non-christian (even for the new christian) to raise questions. So they all can learn the truth altogether.

Well, it is all mix up, and Jesus's marriage is not in the first few centuries, rather at a much later date. How then should I consider any possibility of changes in message?

If I were to says that Lincon is a half chinese, say 50 yrs after his death, most of the people who had saw him will know it is fake. However, things will be more convincing if I say he is a half Chinese, if there is never any photograph of Lincon to proof he is not. Got it?

During the period when the Gospel was written, there is no mentioned that he was married. It is after few centuries. Why? Because if there is anyone who claim he is married in the first centry, everyone will know it is fake.

That is the point.

I was raised Catholic and have since switched to Buddism. I found it very hard to understand why every Catholic found the Bible as the truth. It's a book. Written by a men, mortals. Dan Brown is a regular man also. Why can't his fictional book be based loosely on Jesus?

There is NO physical proof that this man, Jesus ever lived. But people go crazy and do horrible things in his name.

I think everyone is entitled to the own belief system. But I find it very hard to understand what all the commotion over this book is about. It's a book, newer, but a book, just like the bible. Except we know this is fiction, we know who wrote this one.

The Da Vinci Code was a good novel, but there were too many events described in the book that were written in such a way that it is precieved as fact. The only problem is that there is overwhwelming evidince to prove otherwise. Great story, Bad research.

How is pure fiction and lies 100% factual? The book and movie claim to be fact but it is historically false in every way...

If Jesus wasn't who He says that He is in the Bible, then we wouldn't be saved...

It even said at the end that the world would be better of without Christianity... WHAT HORSE CRAP!!

If so Nazism would have ran rampant, because there would have been no moral standard... no right and wrong... America woulden't exist as it is today... Life would be Immoral and without purpose....

I think Dan Brown is a braindead and is so open minded, his brain has fallen out...

If you believe in the Davici code, you are blind and closed minded agaist the Truth... ignorant by choice...

God help us...

First, book is completely fake. Only seen the movie, and that is more like Mission Impossible than any kind of thought-provoking movie.

Second, what is wrong with a man being married and having children with his wife? Surely it is a Christian thing to do, and only revinforces his message.

Maybe it was kinda irresponsible to make the woman pregnant knowing that you won't be around to provide for them. But then again, with Jesus'es connection up above, he could definitely make sure his wife and child are doing OK.

I thought the book was pretty well-written, and I've read several on the same order before. No, I don't HATE it--it's a book.

And, supposing that everything it said WAS true? What difference would itr make? Jesus would seem more human, but it wouldn't change His ultimate message of love.

I read the book, and then saw the movie. I can understand why people are upset; however, I feel that if you are strong enough in your faith, it won't shake it, and there is really nothing to be going on about. I don't believe his ultimate message would be sacrificed in any way if he did indeed have a wife and child. It is just a (kinda poorly) written work of fiction, and nothing more.
I do not write this to offend, so please do not take it that way. I'm just sharing my opinion. :)

I hated the book, but not becuase of the portryal of Jesus. I took it as how it was meant to be, a work of fiction.

The reason why I disliked the book was due to all the hype surrounding it. And when I finnaly got around to reading it, I found it was a poorly written, piece of flaming dog feces in a dust cover. Very dissapointed.
