If something is too basic, if can eat away at your stomach, just as well as if something is too alkaline. Ever heard of "alkaline" batteries. Granted it's not the same stuff, but the point is their both acidic. Anything past the PH of 7 is either basic or acidic (alkaline in this case). In the Korean war, British officers for WHO knows why (I guess it's comforting, I know I like a spot of tea every now and then...) would give their soldiers tea when they'd been shot in the belly, and it created something known as Peritonitis. Due to the acidity. Just because it's mixed with milk or water doesn't mean it's not acidic. Why am I told to take my medication with water or best, milk? Because if I DON'T and I take it with soda (which I do) it can eat at my stomach lining and I'll get an ulcer. Even if I took it with milk, if you take too much, it'll happen. So, it's not the mixture of milk, it's still the plant and the bodies chemical reaction with it causing the alkaline reaction.
