Not all yorkies have straight hair. It also depends on whether this is a pup or not. A pup will have a different texture hair than an adult. It will change in time. As far as shiny...that's your dog food. Linoleac acid in dog food directly feeds a dogs coat and skin. You can buy "Linotone" to add to a dog's food, but it's quite expensive. Your other choice is a dog food already high in linoleac acid...and Nutro Max is the best for that, theirs is highest. Have used it for 7 years and I swear by it.

I'm no expert on Yorkies in particular, but the best thing for a nice coat is typically a very good diet. There are lots of options there, but for starters, nothing from the grocery store. You can also look at various dietary supplements.

We use a fish oil pill branded "3V cap" twice a day.

you need to brush it and wash it like once a week and "train" the fur to be straight. Brush every day, wash once a week. You can get dog shampoo that will help you dog's fur to be shiny.

They are very high maintenace. you just have to constantly brush their hair and bath them frequently. My mom just takes hers to a groomer and pays to have it done. But they're soooooooooo cute :)
