So here it is: my husband and I are in a financial mess these days, as I am sure many of you are. More importanty, a very good friend of ours is currently battling cancer as a single father. I myself am being finally forced to trust completely in God as I should have been doing all along(lean not on my own understanding).

So I would like to ask for your prayers for my friend and my family, and I would also like to extend myself to you, if there is any request you would have me pray for. If I get reported or suspended, so be it; I just thought I'd give it a whirl.

"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort; who comforts us in all our affliction so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. For just as the sufferings of Christ are ours in abundance, so also our comfort is abundand through Christ."

- 2 Corinthians 1:3-5

God Bless!!

I hope the Lord grants you peace and contentment soon.

I am slogging through a pretty tough year myself, so excuse my advice, but here are somethings that helped me.

Whenever you have a choice between depressing and funny - pick funny every time. Laugh when others would cry and it will help put your life back in eternal perspective.

Why life goes this way is not our responsibility. We are only responsible for doing what God leads us to do, the rest is his problem. Read the last few chapters of Job for a nice rant on this topic.

Planning is great, as long as you REALLY know and accept that all we can do is go along with or get in the way of God's master plan. Our culture relies heavily on planning, be prepared to have others "blame" you for things that are simply a mysterious part of Gods plan. If you have been leaning on your own plans, it is hard to fight these (often well meaning) negative voices.

God often shines brightest through you when you are barely even there. I have blocked out a lot of last year due to massive stress, and what I remember is mostly me sitting quietly on the sidelines doing my best not to have a nervous breakdown. What others remember is different, they say my words and actions at these worst times often led them to places God wanted them to go.

Remember the blame and the credit go to the same place. Give God all the credit and he will take all the blame with it. I know this sounds trite, but I mean ALL of it. Why do we feel guilty about a dirty house, or missing Thanksgiving, or anything else when Christ died for ALL our sins. If it was a sin, give it up to him; if it wasn't its not worth feeling guilty over. Don't let people take you on those rides, even at Church.

The Present is almost never scary. Through evictions, miscarrages, lawsuits, and hospitalizations - I have learned one thing. The future is terrifying - but it is not my problem. The past is depressing and guiltridden- but God has taken care of that too. The present is almost never even uncomfortable, let alone scary and our whole life is made up of a string of nows. Lawsuits stink, but they are really just a series of sitting and speaking in quiet buildings. Hospitalizations are scary, but really mostly are made up of naps and waiting around in strange clothes. God gave us the power to face now, and took away the need to face the rest of it. You can't be strong against everything that might happen, but you can be strong against everything that does.

May God bless you and your family from now until He comes again.

Father,

You allow us to do that which pleases you least. Our hearts can grow cold and far from you. Hearken to our prayer and lead us in the way of life everlasting. Praise to you oh GOD! You are merciful and do not punish us as our sins deserve. Enlighten us through your Word and through the fellowship of your saints. Give us Faith and Wisdom as your Spirit can only give. Bless you LORD for our frail existence on this earth is but for a time and we need your help in all things. As we confess our sin to you, help our unbelief. Your are the Master of the Universe and nothing is too small or insignificant to you. Provide our needs in Messiah and for but a time on earth comfort your people with the knowledge that you are in control. Whatever brings you glory and honor and praise father, may it be as your will commands. Bless you oh Lord! Be lifted high among the nations and a glory to your people.
In the precious name of Yeshua your son our Messiah, Amen,
