My daughter's 1st birthday party was today and I just finished the impossible task of getting the toys out of their boxes. Why do they do this to us? It took me a half an hour just to undo all the stupid twisty wires on ONE TOY! Does anyone else get frustrated when they do this?

I wouldn't think it's shoplifting prevention, because if I were to steal a toy (not that I would) I would just take the whole box, toy and all, not sit there and take it out of the box! These toys arn't small or anything. I think they would notice if you had a hugr toy under your shirt...lol

Not only does that drive me nuts, as well as take so long that my 7 month old daughter usually loses interest and crawls away, but those twist ties are a huge choking hazard and so easy to miss while cleaning up. I also heard it is to prevent shoplifting.

I HATE it when they do that. I think they do it for appearance sakes. If it looks good in the box they think that more people will want to buy it. I seriously hate how it fills up the garbage can with all the wrapping.

most toys nowadays are in clear display packages, i would think the "twisties" are there to keep it in place to the cardboard so that it would look even when on display.

yes, it is very frustrating. Especially when your little one is anxious to play with that new toy.
