I applaud that you stopped drinking. It can be a very bad habit to break and from the sounds of it you were drinking a lot. I want to encourage you to not fall off the wagon so to speak. Three years ago I lost my aunt because of alcohol related health issues. Her Liver and Kidneys stopped functioning and she was only 52 years old. She drank heavily until she was about 45 and then she quit cold turkey. It still didn't matter. The damage was already done. Her death was miserable and the dialysis was agony for her. I use to have an occasional drink but after seeing what it did to her I don't drink any more. Can one more drink hurt you? That is really up to you to decide. My question to you is, can you stop at just one more or will that turn into something else? If I were you my answer would be no. Good Luck!

If I were you and I knew I had a past of hard drinking I would go to the doctor and tell him my concerns and ask for a liver enzyme test. It is a simple blood test that can detect liver enzyme levels that are not in the normal range (which could mean some liver damage has been done).
If everything came out ok, then a beer once in a while should be ok.

I have an answer and a question for you. First the question do you want to live or die? I f you continue to go against your doctors recommendation you will eventually die. Sirouses of the liver is a terrible way to go. Once your liver dies your body fills up with all the toxins it can not get rid of. then you have to put on a doner list to have it replaced. This very expensive and if you have other problems you may not be a candidate for replacement. I recommend that you go to any Alcohol Council and get the facts on what is happening inside your body.
Secondly, there is a solution to those who think they drink to much that they can get help through the rooms of AA. You can also find that information through the council and is also posted in News Papers, telephone books. I know because i have been Sober for 5years and my life is better for it.

No I would not. I don't drink. I don't care if others do however I work in a place where we have had several people with cirrhosis livers from drinking. One decided since he was good for so long why not have a few. Hes never going to have to make that choice again. Another died after turning the color of a Nacho Dorito. Yet another is so scrambled in the head she had no idea where she is. So is it worth it? I also live with a drunk. If you stopped don't ever start again!

I would not have just a few, because a few could lead to a lot. You know your body better than anyone else. Listen to what it is telling you. You have most of your life ahead of you. Give your liver a rest. You can have fun without alcohol. Congratulations on not drinking for over a year. Why screw up a good thing? Stay the course.

I couldn't say, I quit about 5 months ago and have wanted to try drinking less. I think I could do it but my wife says she will walk if I start drinking again because I was an a$$hole. I might down the road but for now not drinking is a good thing for me, it probably wouldn't hurt to have one or two but I wouldn't do more than three tops.

Your physique will adjust to the effects of alcohol and could compensate to an quantity. however the comensation is mild and has a tendency to be in such issues as speech and flow. Your reaction cases and different "hidden" features won't exchange plenty. Drink sufficient and you gets inebriated - this is going to easily be that the preliminary ranges of drunkennes which you used to journey would be much less obvious.

I doubt it. Liver problems are dangerous....because without a liver you...die. It filters your fluids and alcohol and fatty foods can poison it. Especially with your organs being alreayd damaged, drinking more would be a bad idea. Resist the temptation by thinking that you...really want to live. :)

If you think one beer is going to be it - then drink it.... i've heard "a beer a day keeps the doctor away" LOL same as an apple...lol

Honestly if your condition is bad...maybe take a little sip.. you know when you drink one you might want another so just sip and do something else to keep ur mind off of it. (again..if ur condition is bad) ;)
