It's damage to the nerves due to prolong out of control diabetes.
I have it in my feet and its very painful I have to take pills 3 times a day and on some days it seems they don't even help. My advice if you think you have diabetes get checked out or if you already have it get it under control.

It's "neuropathy" and it's the dying of nerve ending in various parts of the body that results from long term diabetes not being managed. Depending on where it's located, there are different signs. Check out the ADA website.

It can cause numbness/tingling to the body part affected. it can cause say your foot to feel like it is asleep all the time.
