If you want to know something the believe of a certain religion listen to someone in that religion as others only know what they have heard and it may have been from some one that is biased.
If he and his family are devout in their faith he will have to wait until he is 16 to start dating. He can go on group outings and you can go along. Don't expect a love romance from him yet. He is trying to keep is body pure so he can go on a mission when he turns 19 and will be away for 2 years then. This mission will not be anywhere close to home. After he comes back is when the serious dating starts. Yes many marry outside the religion but most do not as we believe that marriage is forever and are married in the temple. To do this both have to be Mormons for at least one year obeying all our beliefs. That means no sex before marriage. He will have duties that will take up some of his time each week and as most people do not understand the religion it make can make it hard for the non-member to cope with. Some who marry outside the church have very happy lives. Understand he will want his children to join the church and be active from the beginning. I know you are not interested in marriage yet but this is information you can also use later in life. Most are very kind and loving spouses or boyfriends/girlfriends. So while he can't date you yet he can still be a close special friend.

Most Mormons can't date until they are 16. If his family is active in their faith, he will likely only be able to date within the LDS faith and only if they both are 16.

Please accept some advice from an older, probably wiser man, if you are a Christian, run from him. They will suck you into their cult. You are too young to mess your life up so soon. Wait till the right man comes along who shares your faith.
If you are not a Christian, guess it doesn't really make a difference, does it?

He won't be interested in dating. He can do group things, but if you really want to get to know him better, show an interest in his religion. Maybe you can go to some youth meetings together. They aren't that bad. ;)
