i think 9yrs old is old enough for him to understand that people believe different things. some people believe that there are many gods, some people believe there are no gods, etc. No belief is better or more truthful than another. the best is believe whatever makes him feel most at ease, most happy, most assured... and to let other people have their own beliefs as well.

At 9 years old he doesn't know what to think actually and is looking to you for guidance. I do not believe in a god either and if it were me I'd look him straight in the eye and tell him "I do not believe in your god but if you do it's okay"...If he asks you why you don't believe then tell him. Trust me...he'll get any number of misguided believers trying to convince him that a god exists...pity.

Tell him that different people believe different things. Tell him he truth about your feelings but DO NOT start to tell him that what he believes is a bunch of crap. that would be wrong. Keep the conversation short and change the topic before it can get too deep and confusing for the child. This is an area to tread lightly.

Tell him that you don't but then tell him that you believe different things than him. Maybe you could try going to church sometime. Life with him is much better, well atleast for me. Maybe you'd end up believing!?! Hope everything works out well when you tell him!

Don't lie to him, tell him that everyone believes in something and that all of us don't necessarliy believe in god. Explain that it is not a bad thing just that your not really sure about it. Don't make him think he needs to change his beliefs just cause yours are different. I first would ask his mom if it is ok to tell him about your beliefs if they are deeply religious they may get offended ask her to help you explain it on his level we are all intitled to our opinion.

Tell him that belief in anything is a matter of choice and that you choose not to believe in God. Let him know that it is okay for him to believe in God if he chooses to. Tell him that you will love him regardless of his beliefs and you hope that he will love you in spite of your beliefs being different from his.
P.S. I choose to believe. Good luck and God bless.

Tell him WHY do not believe in God. But I would ask your brother/sister if he/she is okay with you telling him, before anything.

Maybe you should discuss this with his parents so that the answer you give him does not upset them and cause problems with in the family. To each their own but if you don't I hope someday you do.
