Good handwashing is your first line of defense..also keep this in mind..If your family member goes into the bathroom..and does not use good hand washing..or perhaps didnt wash at all..but then you happen to go in there a bit later...you do wash your hands..but..after you have washed them..you touched/grabbed the same door knob that your family did..and may have left the germs there..only to be picked up by you..Good hand washing is the following
get the hand towels(clean ones) or paper towels..and have them ready to grab after washing..like layin close to the sink..then, wash your hands with warm, soapy water..also wash under your nails with a nail brush..wash each hand for ..well, i will let ya slide since you are non medical personnel..wash each hand for 3 minutes..DO NOT REACH UP AND TURN OFF THE WATER YET....dry your hands with the clean towel..then USE THE TOWELS..PAPER TOWELS..TO TURN THE FAUCET OFF..then discard towels or put in dirty laundry. It is also to have an extra towel..paper towel..laying on the counter top as well..after you have washed and dried your hands..tossed the first towel..use the second one to turn the door knob or handle that will get you out of the bathroom..Sound extreme? Not really. I am a nurse..and thus far..in 24 years, I have yet to contract any viruses or diseases such as that..Luck? Nah..It's called covering your butt!!..good luck!

Wash your hands a lot and make sure she washes her hand after handling anything. Wipe of the things she has handled with disinfecting wipes, bleach, or something that cleans germs.
This is from www.webmd.com:
Pinkeye
Prevention
Pinkeye is spread through contact with the eye drainage, which contains the virus or bacteria that caused the pinkeye. Touching an infected eye leaves drainage on your hand. If you touch your other eye or an object when you have drainage on your hand, the virus or bacteria can be spread.
The following tips help prevent the spread of pinkeye.
Wash your hands before and after:
Touching the eyes or face.
Using medicine in the eyes.
Do not share eye makeup.
Do not use eye makeup until the infection is fully cured, because you could reinfect yourself with the eye makeup products. If your eye infection was caused by bacteria or a virus, throw away your old makeup and buy new products.
Do not share contact lens equipment, containers, or solutions.
Do not wear contact lenses until the infection is cured. Thoroughly clean your contacts before wearing them again.
Do not share eye medicine.
Do not share towels, linens, pillows, or handkerchiefs. Use clean linens, towels, and washcloths daily.
Wash your hands and wear gloves if you are looking into someone else's eye for a foreign object or helping someone else apply an eye medicine.
Wear eye protection when in the wind, heat, or cold to prevent eye irritation.
Wear safety glasses when working with chemicals

Not only do you need to wash your hands so do they, for at least 20 seconds each time you wash to kill germs. Pink eye is spread by body fluids. As in sneezing, coughing, rubbing of the eyes and then touching something or someone else. Wash down anything they have touched with a antibacterial cleaner. You can spray Lysol to try to help kill germs. But thats really about all you can do.

Pinkeye can spread in areas where people live, work, and play closely together. If you are around someone with pinkeye, wash your hands thoroughly and often. People who share computer keyboards with others at work must be careful to wash their hands before they touch around their faces, especially during cold and flu season.
Bedding, towels, and personal items that come in contact with secretions should not be shared. Wash and change sheets and pillowcases every day.
Makeup should not be shared.
Eyedrops should not be shared among individuals; otherwise, the infection can spread.
Pinkeye (viral conjunctivitis) usually goes away in 10-14 days, but symptoms may last for up to 6 weeks.

As long as YOU do not touch any surface she touched and then touch your eyes then you cannot contract conjunctivitis. For prevention and cure use saline drops in your eyes. You can make it at home-simply put a little water to boil in a pot and then add a bit of salt and let it cool. When it's warm-room temperature, drop a few drops in each eye. Do this two or three times per day.

Your dad's girlfriend's sister? Dang, I am having a hard time grasping who that even is to you. lol She would have no reason to get mad at you. I have babysat in the past for a friend. I would never do it again. The kid was spoiled to the max and I refuse to keep a kid that screams, smacks, pulls my hair, and hits me in the face when she doesn't get her way. Besides that it is way to easy to be accused of doing something to them. I just wouldn't ever do it again. And btw, changing a diaper is kind of self explanatory. I wouldn't use that as an excuse. Just tell her you don't have the patience or something. OR just be honest and say NO. I don't really want to.

the condition is spread by contact with the drainage fluids from the person with pink eye, and you know she came in contact with it while caring for her children.
Stay clear of the fluids and you'll be fine.
Don't panic, don't fault find, she can't do anything except get well, and that's only about 7 to 10 days.

Wash everything. Use water with a little bleach in it to wipe off countertops, door knobs, drawer pulls, the toilet handle, window sills, etc - anything that you might touch. Spray Lysol on things you can't wipe, like your computer keyboard. Get the liquid hand sanitizer and clean your hands periodically. Same goes for the woman with pinkeye, and for everyone else in the house.

Wash your hands constantly, use alcohol gel (like purell), and don't touch your eyes. After she leaves, disinfect the pace and the common items she touched.
I know it sounds extreme, but it's so contagious! And Pink eye just sucks to have!!
