I have a Poodle who is 5 years old...

Bruno has been limping one of his back legs for 6 months. The vet did not diagnose him wirth arthritis. Then out of no where he had a bold spot on his upper back. He does not itch it so it probably is not mange and it is purplish. The same vet took a lime disease test and the results were negative......Do you know what is wrong?

I have cats that he likes to chase and pull off their hair. Maybe they bit him one and the wound got infected or the groomers cut him. However, he might have cancer...

The vet gave me this cream that does S!@# and just makes Bruno want to scratch the spot.....idk please help

I'd get a second opinion from another vet. I'd definitely want more answers on the limping.

As far as the purplish bald spot, this certainly could be demodex mange. There are two kinds: sarcoptic is the kind that is contagious and more likely to be very itchy, and demodex can look like a purplish wrinkly bald spot, and is often not itchy (maybe even rarely itchy). Demodex mange is not contagious; it is typically caused by a depressed immune system.

I'm not a vet so I couldn't possibly guess what the spot actually is even if I saw it myself, but I'd definitely get that second opinion on the limping and the spot. What does your vet believe it is? What kind of cream did they diagnose?

Find a new vet now. Has he been tested for a low thyroid? 5 years old is very young for a small dog(or is he a standard) to get arthritis-was there an injury that you can remember? An XRay is probably in order along with bloodwork to see if anything else can be detected. There are tick diseases and lots of other things that could be causing him to limp. Sometimes a different vet just has a different perspective or training and can figure out the problem. Good luck

your dog has arthritis as my 15 year old brittney also limps and we give her joint thearapy from pet department at wallmart.give faithfully as it says. it may take a couple weeks to start working. these are cheaper than what the vets give and is very good for the joints in dogs past 3 yrs.Are you using anything on the upper back for flea control?my dog was allergic to a couple and got some bauld spots. check this out. my sister has 2 poodles the age of your dog and had bad limping .she took her in and got a cortizone shot and uses the joint thearapy 5 years in a dog is old in humans also if your poodle is black maybe his skin is darker.you can also get a second opinion from a 2nd vet. sometimes the vets will say there are no allergies from flea meds you use on the back because they want to sell the meds that you cant go to a pet store and buy. must come from the vets. good luck and be persistant on getting answers

Get 2nd opinion.....If he is a large poodle then maybe his hips need to be xrayed. You vet should have took some xrays to see what was wrong. If the dog is limping then there is a pain issue that to has to be resolved. Dogs dont always show pain they compensate.

The hair is might be what you said.... separate the cats form the dog.

If your cats are inside cats get the declawed in the front. Cats scratches are painfull and can be very infectious.

If it is cancer they have tests for that too... 500-800 dollars for the lab tests.

GET ANOTHER VET!
your vet obviously is not helping! if a doctor just handed me medication for my child, and it didn't work you bet your @ss i would get a new doctor!
i would do that same for my dogs, and unfortunately i HAVE in the past. i have a great vet now!

if you are not satisfied, you CAN and SHOULD go to someone else!
