as a teenager in topeka kansas im having trouble figuring out who to tell and how to get their attention but im afraid no one will listen but i truly believe with the help of scientist this could truly work....any advice on how to get the idea exposed on a major level

As you can see from the answers you have received to a very thoughtful question there are, with a few exceptions, a bunch of Bone Heads answering environmental questions. Ignore them.
Don't let it overwhelm you. The environment is changing and unfortunately stopping the changes is going to be difficult and will take a long time. The climate will still be changing long after you and I are both dead.
The key to dealing with this is to gain some perspective. Climate change will be very gradual so you need not panic that things are suddenly going to be terrible next year or something. Climate change is a centuries long proposition.
You personally can help by making smart decisions about major things in your life. The type of car you drive, the house you live in, choosing energy efficient products, and supporting politicians that are committed to doing something about the environment. You might want to consider choosing a carer such as science, engineering or politics where you can have a direct influence on global warming. If those things don't work for you do not feel bad about that. If everyone were simply to demand that our political representatives make global warming their first priority we can deal.

if you have a definite plan that you know will work, go to the local paper with it. if its a good idea, it will get picked up by the major papers, and the whole world will learn about it. but if its just the same old everybody has to pitch in idea, we already know that, most people don't care

It is exposed. It is a bunch of crap. The atmosphere is effected by cycles and volcanos.
All of you ******* environmentalists drive the same SUVs, eat the same beef and wear the same clothes manufactured in a Chinese sweat shop as everyone else.

Research others ideas from within the scientific community. You may find that others have already envisioned your plan. Support these people and become involved with them and groups they are working with. There are others who share your goal. Once involved you will find powerful allies with whom to collaborate.
It's not as important to start a good team as it is to be involved with a good one.

well........you have always the easy option, which is to join an environmentalist group. So you don't have to do everything from scratch.
Greenpeace and WWF, my all time favorites!
