i know it will improve my cardio, but would it really help me to losse pounds,, like how long would I have to skip to show results?

The best way to lose unwanted weight is to strength train ... i.e. lifting weights. It's been known for years that building lean muscle easily burns more calories than regular cardio workouts. Don't get me wrong, cardio is an important aspect to maintaining good health, but for weight loss, increase your protein intake, go to the gym and start lifting weights.
I've been doing this for years. I'm now 40 and still maintain a very tight and lean figure.
Most of all, avoid all junk food and soft drinks. Don't diet ... revolutionize your lifestyle.

Skipping rope is 10 times better than jogging. But losing weight is a combination of diet and exercise. You also have to know your metabolism.
