Go to this link: http://www.akc.org/breeds/rescue.cfm Scroll down til you see "Pug" The AKC always lists purebred rescue clubs for all the breeds they register. There are over 12 clubs and hopefully one near you. You may also google "Pug" and find the national parent club. They could also put you in touch with a rescue group near you. I commend you for rescuing!!

I think everyone has great answers for where to find pugs, but make sure you are getting the right breed for you, they are wonderful, and rescues can tell you that far too many people get them not knowing they can have a cute but handful of a dog. Good luck, and thanks for rescueing.... more people should.

Kudos to petluvr. I have a 5 yr old pug. My daughter bought him with part of her graduation money. We inherited him when she figured out how much work he was. Still reluctant to potty out doors, has lots of health issues, allergies, ears, folds, weight problems and we spend lots of time (and money) trying to keep him healthy. Needs constant attention. Ask around first this is pretty much the norm for pugs. He is a lover and very loyal especially to one person. She could not go out without him waiting by the door till she came home. It was so sad. He follows me everywhere, bathroom, kitchen. He sleeps with us, on my pillow with his chin on my forehead, snoring. In spite of his issues I love him to death but would never get another one.

You can also try the San Jose Humane Society. Just to let you know pugs are really finicky, at least the ones I had were.
