I have a bug bite a few days ago, it's been my first in a long while, I have found from my many past experiences that if you don't scratch it the first day it won't itch and it'll go away sooner. If you have a bug bite on your leg (that's where it always appeared for me), try scratching your arm or do something to take your mind off it. The less you scratch the less it will itch. Good luck!
Ps. I remember reading from somewhere that mosquitoes are attracted to dark clothing; I'm not sure if that's true but it might help.

Benadryl cream is excellent souce of instant relief. After you have used that for a day or so, apply an antibiotic topical ointment such as neosporin to keep any infection out and clear the site up faster. I am walking proof.
Remember to protect yoruself before going out to keep this from happening by wearing appropriate clothing, (socks, long sleeves, etc) and to make sure all areas surrounding you are free from standing water at all times. If any problems persist after 3 days, including signs of infection, fever, seek your docs attention immediately.

I use Ice cubes. For some reason Ice Cubes freeze what ever it is that bit you and the bite doesnt bother me anymore. I dont think their is any scientific answer as to why it works for me but on most bites it does.
I just rub them around the bite in circles and then onto the bite and then back around the bite site. takes all of about a minute or two.
This works for me so I give this answer. try it and see if it works for you on some bites. Mosquito bites it is awesome on, this i know for sure.

Don't scratch at it. But, the best form of relief is to dab it with either white vinegar or isopropyl alcohol, using a cotton ball or q-tip. But the more that you scratch at it, the more it will itch and the more susceptible you become to a bacteria infection, which could cause further problems that you do not want.

Benadryl orally and take an aveeno bath or just use the benadryl after bite stick on the bites, works great!

An old fashioned remedy my grandmother told me to use was vinegar. When I was a kid, we ran out of our usual itch cream and I used vinegar. It did work but smelled funny. It also kept the bugs away from me. But usually I use Caladryl lotion. It has calamine and Benadryl in it.

Make a paste with MSG (same as you use for cooking) and rub it on. You should get quick relief.
