Of course it's okay - would your aunt rather have you having fun, or attending a funeral. Surely the former. Don't feel guilty - just close your eyes and tell her what your favourite thing was about her and how much you will miss it.

Your aunt probably would have wanted you to stay. Don't feel bad about it. Try to remember all the memories you had with your aunt. If you have a journal, write about your aunt and have your own memorial by writing down your thoughts and feelings of her. Grieving is a personal experience and I think just thinking of her through your memories is just as important as being at a service. Take care xxx.

I have never been to a funeral and being away at camp is a better excuse than I have had for some of them. Just try to be respectful to everyone while they are alive and what happens to them after they pass away will not be as important.

It was your choice to stay at camp, wasn't it? It's your choice to either stay or attend your aunt's funeral. The good thing is that you can say goodbye to your aunt anytime.

Children are not expected to attend funerals of relatives who are not in their immediate family. It was fine that you stayed at camp.
