inhaled steroids like flovent or asmanex these reduce the tickle that makes you cough, they reduce the inflammation that causes the tickle in your throat, allegra is the number one allergy medicine so go to family doctor and get inhaled steroids and allegra, then if not better go to an allergy and asthma specialist, listen allergies can bring on allergy induced asthma so just go and let them test you for allergies if the skin test does not work then tell them you want an ige antibody blood test for mold and other allergens!

I'm going to guess you may have reflux- try taking some Prilosec or talk to your Dr.

For 2-3 yrs Dr's told me My son had Asthma, he'd cough so hard and long that he'd throw up. He was only 2 when this all started. I took him to Dr Winder here in Ohio and he came up with the idea that he had reflux. My son has been on Aciphex for the last 3 yrs now, and has not had one of those episodes since he started the medication!

Two most common causes are allergy induced post nasal drip ( evidenced by throat clearing) and acid reflux. These account for 90% of the causes. Other possibilities include asthma, infection, lung disease or even side effects to a class of medicine called ACE inhibitors. These include zestril, lisinopril, etc. See your doctor!

If you're coughing up green stuff and you know it's coming from your lungs that means you have an infection, probably pnemonia. Have them take another chest x-ray. Yes, you should stop smoking but that alone may not get rid of what's in your chest. See your doctor too.

Are you on blood pressure meds? That causes coughing for some people. Otherwise, it sounds like an allergy and you need to see an allergist.
