What would you do if you were in my situation:?

I play basketball, I'm a black belt in karate. My journalist uncle says my story is unbelievable, and the #1 jazz piano player in the state told me I was a great piano player. Sounds great, right? Wrong! My dad only lets me do this stuff because it's "beneficial". He won't let me get a game console. He won't let me copy and install my counsins Sims 2 game because he thinks computer will rot my brain. He doesn't believe in going to the mall to shop for clothes like everyone else. We shop at Kohls and alot of people at my school bug me about it. Do I have it better or worse?

You have it fabulous! Your parents care about you and are raising you to be non-materialistic, well-rounded, and intelligent. It may seem like a drag now, but you'll appreciate it later. I mean, look at most of the questions here. Most of these kids don't even have basic common sense. They can't spell, they don't know how to find information for themselves, and generally are mental midgets. Their parents obviously let them hang out in the mall instead of read, play video games instead of physical activity, and horridly obvious is that they don't check their homework and make sure they're learning anything.

There is not a better or worse situation depending on how you look at it. Bur, you do need your space to make decisions.

Now the clothes, that is so stupid anyway...cause if you look good in what you wear, that is cool with me at least. If you can't afford the clothes you want...WORK FOR IT. But it is a waste to spend a lot of money for a brand. Certain looks you may want to through some major bucks into to purchase it, but don't fall into the trend, cause we all know it change at some time or another.

I may be a little surprise about the whole game deal, but some are addictive. Your dad needs to loosen up and let you explore a little, because you obviously know what is acceptable and what's not.

well I'm in a similar situation, i play the piano and i don't want to anymore but my mom says its something i shouldn't give up. shes says that that's playing the piano is a talent I'm gonna need in life, in January I'll be learning Kung fu, i have highest GPA in my class, and I'm valedictorian. on top of keeping all that up, I'm not allowed to talk on the phone, i can only get on the computer during the week if unless its for homework, i do chores everyday except Sundays, and I'm not allowed to go anywhere with my friends. now u tell me, do u have it better or worse?

When you are 18, you can leave. Until then, suck it u. Enjoy these days of free rent, no bills and food always on the table. You will grow up and eventually have your own life. Parents just do what they think it right for you. By the way, Kohl's has nice stuff...you could have said Goodwill so consider yourself lucky and blessed!

Well RunescapeMike sounds like you play Runescape so thats something, just download a torrent for sims and play it anyway. Hustle up some cash for new clothes or whatever, kohls sucks.

Could be worse, you could be an orphan and homeless. Count your blessings and stop complaining. You have a lot more than a lot of other people. A game console will not put food on the table and will make fodder of your brains.
