I have been a Christian for many years. Since I was in Highschool. But for the last few years I have been bitter toward God. I am in a lot of pain and really need the Lords help. But I think he's not listening to me anymore. Should I just give up and face my troubles alone.

You need to understand that God has never changed his mind about you for an instant. All of these thoughts of bitterness toward god and his not listening to you anymore are in your head; they are not the thoughts of God.

God is your dearest friend, your closest companion. Once God had an idea that he thought was so lovely, so perfect that he did not want to be without it. God loved this idea the he had so much that she thought a part of herself to have enough individuality to see it’s self as separate, as a unit, as an individual as you. God did this so that he might have you to love and so that she might have you to love her. This is the only truth of you and it will never change.

Understand how special this makes each and every one of us to God. This is why God loves each and every one of us unconditionally. Unconditional means no conditions are necessary. No hoops that we need to jump through to keep God loving us. No silly ideas of judgment or punishment or hell just love.

This is what God means to me. This is perfect faith in god’s love for us. Anything else is halfhearted partial faith. You really need to decide if you really have faith in God, or if you just kind of have a little faith in God. The later is what most people have.

You may have left God for a while but God has not left you for an instant.

Love and blessings

One time I felt the same way you did, or at least similar to it. I'd been a Christian for years, and then I fell away. One night, I was feeling really down, and I decided to pray. I told God that He'd probably given up on me, and all was lost. Then I heard a Voice, as clear as though it was right next to me, and it said, "If I'd given up on you, you'd be dead by now." Some people might say I'm nuts, I imagined it, or whatever...but I don't believe that for a second. Once I thought about it, I realized that the voice was right. I should have died, many times before. I remember one time I was in the backseat of a car, going 95 down I5 in the middle of the night, and the driver of the car was drunk. And yet...nothing happened. I did combinations of drugs that should have killed me...and yet they didn't. I tried to kill myself, and nothing worked.
Pray for strength. God will give you that, I'm sure. I already prayed for you.
BTW, if you need to talk...feel free to contact me.
God is always listening, and the answer is there.

If you have been a christian for many years, then you should know the answer, maybe you are confused, what has happened to make you feel this way. You should never give up, it is an on going test of your love for jesus. life is never easy, and you need his presence always, believe me, i never give up, and sooner or later he comes through.... you never said you were in physical pain, or mental pain, i presume it is mental pain.....We have all been there, and sometimes its life long for some, but that is the test, and the devil trying to take you away from the lord...All i can say,is be strong!!!

I think you should ask God to forgive you for being bitter and not relying on your faith when times got hard for you, and I think you should thank God for the things He has giving you, and God will always love you, but you have to want to go back to God, it sounds like you do. Your life will be better off with God in it than without!

God never stopped loving you. When we are not loving(bitter) we don't love ourselves and block all awareness of God's love. God's love is unconditional...bitterness is not even in his awareness. The bitterness is something you are doing to yourself. Awareness is the first step in recognizing the effect the negative emotions have had on you. You are holding yourself prisoner in your own pain.God is there waiting for you to push the blocks out of the way and to realise he has always been there. You have never been alone or without his love.

No man. Almost every kid goes though this sometime after highschool. It happen to me. Your just lost right now but it doesn't mean God isn't with you. Remeber when a door closes... a window opens up. -_-; I have to keep saying this to myself every time something goes wrong. Gods here for you. Just pray... and you'll feel better.... church also helps... but i shouldn't be one to tell you that. I haven't gone in over a year myself. Also talking to a friend or family memeber will help you with this.

I am not sure why you became bitter toward God initially but He is very forgiving and never stopped loving you. I would recommend reading your Bible and seeking counsel from a local minister who can talk you through your troubling times.

Don't give up on God,God will always love you. It may feel like he's not listening, but he is, you just have to have faith. Just wait...patience is a virtue of the holy spirit and God will answer all your prayers. Put your life in his hands and he will handle all your problems. I know it's easier said than done, but it works.

Remember the story of the Prodigal son? When he realized his need for his father, even though he knew he was unworthy, he came back home.

Remember how his dad handled it? He came running to meet the boy and welcomed him back into the family with open arms.

The boy had already squandered his half of the inheritance, so he was out to lunch there, but he was still his Father's son and was gladly welcomed home to heal and be safe.

Read that story again. I might be leaving something out that will bring comfort to you personally. I will pray for you.

Of course. God loves you still, he always has and always will. It's not God's anger that you should fear, but your own inability to accept God's love and forgiveness. For God will judge us all according to our sins, but God has loved us enough to send His Son Jesus Christ into the world that we may be made citizens of the Kingdom of Heaven if we believe and repent of our wicked ways. You should stand up to your troubles by yourself, for you shouldn't rely on God as a crutch. He has made you strong enough to endure whatever the world can throw at you.
