The absolute most important value in empathy. This leads to all things. They learn not to lie because how would they feel if someone lied to them. They learn not to steal because how would they feel if someone stole from them. They learn not to hurt because how does it feel when they hurt. They learn to help because how does it feel when they are helped. They learn to love because how does it feel for them to be loved. Pretty soon it is automatic to think of others and have a giving spirit because after all it feels good!!

They are all the most important values to teach your kids. No matter what you do, you must instill the fact that there is a right and wrong way to live, believe and love. Remember when you raise your children they will one day have their own opinion about anything and everything before they realize you were right in the first place.

I have a 12 years old daughter. The values of I am instilling on her are honesty, respect and appreciation of the people and things around her. At this time and age, there are a great number of young people who lies, are disrespectful of their elders or supervisors and just cannot get satisfied with what they have. I believe it is important for my daughter to have those three values because I am sure she can only live her life fully if she practice those values. :)

Honesty. Respect for self and others. I see too many children and adults show no respect for other human beings. If you don't like me that's fine. Just allow me the common courtesy of walking down the street and breathing the same air you do. Courteous respectful children will grow into courteous respectful adults. Usually; there are those exceptions to the rule.

The most important value I'm teaching my children is love. I'm making an honest attempt to teach them to love and value the lives of all human beings. Just yesterday, I was having a conversation with my daughter about how very fortunate she is. We were taking all kids of things to donate to several of my students' families that she and her brother no longer use. I told her that because she is so fortunate and has so much she has a responsibility to share what she has with others, out of love for her fellow human beings. I believe that when one truly loves their fellow humans, they make an honest attempt to respect and honor their humanity and their right to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness. That's THE most important value I'm teaching my children.

The most important value is to treat other people the way they would like to be treated. And the great thing about kids is that when you want to teach them your values, you have to live them!

Unless you are destitute, if you put an infant or toddler in day care, you are teaching your child from the beginning that people do not treat others the way they wish to be treated themselves.

Respect adults, and go to church, because children should never disrespect adults. Above all, respect me as a parent, because if they don't, they will be sorry. I would also teach my children to communicate with me, and don't pick at people who are less fortunate. I want them to be wise and have a caring heart, and to not be afraid to be different; not talk about people that they don't know, or to hate on others.
