I am a Muslim woman I am loved and respected by my husband. I am not property by no means.

I have full rights for education employment and as a any Muslim knows I keep my money and he still gives me more.

As you can see from my profile I have two BA's in Psychology and History and working on a PhD in History does any of this sound like property.

Islam clearly teaches that a woman is a full-person under the law, and is the spiritual equal of a male. Also, according to Islamic Law, women have the right to own property, operate a business and receive equal pay for equal work. Women are allowed total control of their wealth, they cannot be married against their will and they are allowed to keep their own name when married. Additionally, they have the right to inherit property and to have their marriage dissolved in the case of neglect or mistreatment. Also, Islam does not consider woman an "evil temptress", and thus does not blame woman for the "original sin". Women in Islam participate in all forms of worship that men participate in. Actually, the rights that Islam gave to women over 1400 years ago were almost unheard of in the West until the 1900s. Less than fifty years ago in England and America, a woman could not buy a house or car without the co-signature of her father or husband!

Islam is winning Western women admirers despite hostile media coverage It is even more ironic that most British converts should be women, given the widespread view in the west that Islam treats women poorly. In the United States, women converts outnumber men by four to one, and in Britain make up the bulk of the estimated 10, 000 to 20, 000 converts, forming part of a Muslim community of 1 to 1.5 million.

Prophet Muhammad told Muslim men, "the best among you is the one who is best to his family." Not Islam, but some Muslim men, do oppress women today. This is because of their cultural habits or their ignorance about their religion.

Their polygamist husband determines how many rights they have or if they should be killed or used as a punching bag. Many muslims are not polygamist I know but once a history of polygamy is in your religion it will take eons to work it out of there.

Look at the Mormons. Every day people leave the official Mormonism to go back to the roots of Mormonism which is polygamy. They think this is more pure even though any polygamist family will tell you it is hard and ridiculous on the women not to be really loved but passed around and passed over.

It depends on where you go and who you ask. Some places like Saudi Arabia are very hard on women, but in other countries, looks can be deceiving. People assume that women who wear veils are oppressed, but many, if not most of these women wear modest clothing by choice and are very comfortable in it.

Islam as a religion allows for women's rights. The right to own their own property and businesses, as well as various political rights, are all outlined in the Quran. But there certainly are places where women are oppressed in the name of Islam. Places that practice female circumsicion are such examples, but this practice is not described in the Quran, and is a cultural thing and not a religious thing.

Anyway, like I said, it basically depends on which Muslims you mean, and where they are from, etc.

Well think about what kind of society we live in, because their culture is very different than ours. Their culture is mostly based on what the Koran fought them. Our culture is television based idols. They believe that God made women to help them and obey their husbands in any means necessary, and the women believe it also, So the women except the Muslim Tradition. So if they don't agree with the dissuasion what the husband says just convert.

a great deal of muslim women that i know contest that they are treated with a great deal of respect by muslim men. so i would say, no. they are treated like human beings...

i do not agree with some of the laws for women, but when u come to think of it, islam might be a little more disrespectful to men, in the sense that they suggest that men are incapable of resisting women.

I think it is totally up to them to say how they are treated. There are plenty of women who don't mind being treated as property, so long as it is very valuable property!

Unfortunetly yes. They always live in fear of "Talak, Talak, Talak". Even though Islam has its very good points, when it comes to women, it has treated them as slaves.

In Muslim's perspective, No. That is their tradition, they think it is ok to treat women that way. We are more civilized, we think and see differently.
