There is this stuff in the rug cleaner department at most drug stores called Kids N Pets...oh my gawd...best stuff I have ever used. It not only eliminates the odors but has some ingredient that keeps the animal from coming back and peeing on the rug or garment again. It is laundry safe for clothing, good for rugs and upholstry too....am currently using it while potty training a puppy. I don't think I could live without the stuff.

As the owner of at least 15 cats throughout my lifetime I have found only one remedy which works in the long run.

Borax, ammonia, and a steam cleaner.

Pour the ammonia directly onto the spots where the cat has urinated, and sop up the excess as best you can with a towel. Then, dissolve about a cup of borax (check in your laundry section at your local grocery store) COMPLETELY in a gallon of scalding water (start near boiling temperature as it will cool while you stir in the borax.) Mix in two capfuls of a steam cleaner detergent formulated for pets, and steam the spots well. Roll down the windows and allow to dry.

You should not have another problem with the odor again.

I have never had success with such preparations as Febreeze, enzymatic solutions (often, the nauseatingly sweet odor of these formulas stays around as long as the urine smell), or even industrial cleaners. Pure chlorine bleach is powerless to eliminate the odor, but its fun to watch is fizz up when it reacts to the ammonia in the urine.

Go to a petstore and get a liquid cleaner called "Nature's Miracle". It gets out odors and stains, even if it's been sitting for a while. It's the best.

do not use anything with ammonia, urine is ammonia based, it won't take the odor out. Use a vinegar/water solution, or get something from the vet or a pet store.

Use ammonia, pour it on the spots, let it dry... reapply like 3 times and then go to the car wash and use the vacuum / shampoo cleaner, and that should get it out!!!

What works great for us is Dawn Oxy and baking soda course baking soda should be used for just everything from using in your shoes too bathing in it and brushing your teeth then use it in the laundry and notice the difference in the white teeth and clothes... See for yourself.

Baking soda. Apply it and when it turns yellow vaccum it off. Then apply more. Keep repeating the process until it doesn't turn yellow anymore.
