I have a Golden Reatriever puppy, and whenever I put her in the pool (I hear their breed likes to swim), he just swims right over to the steps and jumps out!
Why does he do this?
I really want to see him swim +'(

Also, he likes to jump on people. Like yesterday, a little girl came over our house with her parents, and he jumped on her and went crazy! How do I stop this? She started crying b/c he scared her

Most animals prefer not to get wet. Some dogs like it, some don't. Don't just throw her in the pool if she doesn't like to swim, that's cruel. She'll think you're punishing her.

Dogs are individuals. Breed can predict the tendency to like to swim or not like to swim, but at the end of the day each dog will have it's own preferences and not.

You may not want to force the issue. Making the pup swim when she is not comfortable with it could actually cement it in his mind that water is a bad and scary thing.

Some dogs are affraid of the big open places and a pool is pretty scarey specially for a puppy...Don't force him to go in the pool...It will take time before he decides if swimming is for him or not...If he is jumping up on people,You need to put a stop to this yesterday...I have a older pup and thats how he show is feeling to you...What i did to break him of this was, I would bring by leg up and it would knee him, And pretty soon he stop jumping on everybody...Try this it work for me...

If he doesn't want to swim you can't make him..yeah the breed in general are swimmers but that doesn't mean they ALL like to swim. He's also just a baby and chances are he's never seen water..maybe as he gets older he'll be more open to the idea.As for the jumping..keep him on a short leash and whenever he goes to jump up on people pull him down firmly and say "no" he'll eventually learn.

Ok get it used to the water by giving it baths. This will train it not to fear water. Plus keep in mind that you are dealing with a puppy. The fact that he swims over is ok hes swimming. Take a toy that he favors and get in the water with the toy and try to see if he will come and get it. This will take awhile but as long as he sees you in the water he will become less afraid. You are the Alfa male and he will follow your lead as long as you do not abuse him.

Plus if you swim with him this will ease his fears. Dogs are not water creatures. they like to play and cool off but if you look are retrievers.... they go in and they go out... they retrive.
