I recently return home to the USA and was surpised to see how easy it was to board an airplane with little or no ID. Granted i was traveling with my 5 year old so i didn't fit any profiles.
But wouldn't a lot of issues like illegals be solve with if we required passports to travel the skies.

We should all haven passports to travel as an offical form of identification. It would help eliminate the questions as to who is here legally and illegally and reduce the infestation of terrorists getting into this country.

Great for whom?

Passports / green cards / social security cards... what is next? Retinal scans? Oh well. The only people who will benefit from mandatory passports are the companies who will make them and the companies who take the "multiple-impossible-to-fill criteria" photos. What will passports enforce? Those traveling by airline and across the border? Well, those who are already within this country are safe then, right? Why would they go out and seek a passport if they are not going to travel - alerting themselves to the authorities that they are not legal? We all know that "illegals" as you put it always travel by airline.

By the way...if "illegals" have to get them, so does every other United Statesian (for American is a term that can apply to North, Central, or South America) and resident within. Save up the dough...when they become mandatory (which they will to leave the country by land in 07 (end of 06 by air) the price will jump. So much for the law of supply and demand.

You need a passport when you go out of the country if you fly inside you just need an ID. It would be ridiculous that to travel inside your country you would need a passport. Passports are made to enter foreign countries. Its a universal ID countries required to let you in. When you're inside your country you already have an ID, so you dont need a passport.

The crybaby bleeding heart liberals would cite that as a violation of privacy. We can't even get illegal aliens to fill out the paperwork and do things the right way with the system we have. It's a good theory, if everyone played by the rules.

Same deal goes for gun control. You could have the strictest gun control laws on the books, everyone would adhere to the law except the criminals.

You can thank the left for that, by the way.

There are always ways around passports and there always will be. Where there is a will, there is a way. That won't solve anything anyway. Aren't you concerned about "big brother" happening here? Wake up!!

I think e should all be given tattoo's with our SS number. No wait, How about we all get Microchips implanted in our skulls? That would make us really safe from all of the terrorists out there.
