Good question. First, all dogs no matter what size they are need to walk at least 30 minutes each day. What does this have to do with a dog barking in the car? Well, dogs are made of energy, this may be one way for him to release some of that energy. It also could be that he's just intent on the rolling of the bikes etc. Here's what you can do.... If you have a bike, take it outside, put your dog on a collar and leash and keep him with you. Take him to the bike and let him sniff it and get use to it. Gently roll the bike back and forth and watch your dogs behavior. What is he doing at this time? If he is shying away from it, stop rolling the bike and walk him around it. Keep your head up while you show him the bike so he learns there is nothing to be afraid of. You are keeping your head up, because you are showing him you are his pack leader and this is what you want him to do. Try rolling the bike back and forth again, if he again shys away, keep repeating this until he calms down. Once he calms down, you can move on to someone actually riding a bike. If you know of someone who can do this for you, let them slowly ride up and down the opposite side of the road from you, when your dog even looks like he is going to lunge or bark, nudge at his throat are with your free hand, and make like a 'tsk' sound. What you are doing here is telling him that this behavior is not acceptable by you. This is the reaction that would happen if he were a wild dog in a pack. If he did a behavior the pack leader did not accept, the pack leader would lightly nip at his neck and make some sort of noise. This activity would be repeated until the dog with the behavior stopped doing it. This make take a few hours or a few days etc, but he will get the hang of what you don't want him to do, and he will stop. Same thing in the car. If he barks at bike/motorcycle going by, you can correct him in the same manner. But, you MUST do the correction at the exact moment he's going to begin this behavior. He'll get understand.

Most dogs will bark at people while in the car. You can try getting him to lie down so he isn't looking out the window. But I don't think it's really a big deal. Dogs relieve stress when they bark. So if his barking is bearable, even slightly, think about how this is benefitting him.
