A car is reported stolen in Ireland. how can the same car be legally registered in the UK (DVLA). Can this be tru? I m told this is perfectly okay. can someone shade some light on this please.

If this happened in Southern Ireland in Eire, that is part of the EU. If the theft happened in another EU country eg Spain would you expect the Spanish authorites to contact the DVLA? Probably not...perhaps the onus was on you to contact the DVLA which might have prevented the re registration. Ireland is a foreign country and absolutely nothing to do with the UK. It is a terrible shame and I hope your insurance company come to your rescue but this has to be a lesson to all of us who take our cars out of the UK.
